Yep, its sad. The democrats try so hard to play themselves off as "for the people", but they are the corrupt ones with the shady deals (just recently, Clinton buying off the DNC), they are the ones who divide and profit from division, they are the oppressors who want to keep the status quo, keep the poor people poor, they are the ones who want to control your money and self determination through taxes, they are the ones who don't believe that individuals can make good choices for themselves or defend themselves, they are the ones that punish hard work and discourage innovation, they are the ones who suppress economic freedom, which is the true path to prosperity.

But they win elections, because they are with you, and all those handouts and government goodies sound so good...when the reality is, they say "stay dependent on us, we will take your freedom but guarantee a quality of life just at about mediocrity but no less than a tick better than misery"

Cries about identity politics, and his party engages in identity politics in spades. And we're supposed to take you seriously

Hate to break it to you, but white working class.and rural males are STILL identity politics. Cultural populism is identity politics

Clinton didn't buy off the Primaries. That was already proven wrong. Why are you posting lies? No Republican or Trump supporter can talk about corruption. It's the height of hypocrisy.

Yep. Raising taxes on middle class voters to pay for corporate tax cuts and gutting health insurance for children is definitely "for the people."

Actually- NJ had an R Governor. Maine has an R Governor and US Senator who is an R. NH has an R Governor. And Dems picked up 15 of the seats in the Va legislature that had R incumbents.

The shocker was that Virginia is now as Democratic as New Jersey. I don't think anyone saw that coming.

The R advantage in the US House is a direct result of state legislatures that went R in 2010. Those were the folks who redrew lines after the 2010 census to their advantage. So regaining legislatures or gaining ground is a bigger deal than most people acknowledge.

I love how the vapid Trump supporters on this thread are trying so hard to claim that this election was no big deal and that any celebrating (or gloating) is pre-mature, when if this election had gone the other way they would be typing away hysterically and often about how "Lib-tards" lost, and this proves that Trump is the Second Coming of Ronald Reagan, taking every opportunity to rub the opposition's faces in it.

Let's face it, the majority of Trump's base are white, non-college educated, blue collar workers who form their political views based on little more than bumper stickers, populist platitudes (which are mostly lies), right-wing echo chambers, and fear of change and cultural/ethnic diversity. Rather than the Second Coming of Reagan, Trump's base today is more reflective of the Know-Nothing party (Know-Nothing Party) We can only hope that history repeats itself and it ends in the same embarrassing way for them.

I hope this election is a sign that the adults are finally coming back into the room.

This! A thousand times this! The GOP is banking on its base being too stupid to realize they are taking things away from the average American to give to the wealthy and to corporations who have seen record profits but have not shared that wealth with anyone but the C-suite. And that they can keep them distracted by bathroom bills and Confederate flags and big, money sucking walls and the like.

And admittedly, that does work on the Trump dupes. But it's not going to work on anyone with a brain.

"But the corporations are going to put this money into creating jobs!"

If that's the case, then it makes you wonder why corporations didn't take all of that extra C.E.O. pay and put that into creating jobs.

Corporate tax cuts will go straight into the pockets of shareholders (about 1/3rd of whom are in other countries) because that's who corporations are ultimately accountable to. It's shareholders first, not American workers first.

The test tube of the real world is the proof. The bigger the government, the less freedom and economic opportunity, the greater corruption, the more mediocre the average person's life becomes. Just look at Iceland. No poverty, but no mansions either. No big dreams. Socialism, or Social Democracy, what have you, is not the way. America is grittier, but we are far more dynamic with far greater opportunity. "poor people" here have color TVs, cars, and air conditioning. You need to be careful about killing the goose that laid the golden egg, because there's no turning back after its done. Entitlements, government handouts and welfare are never rolled back

Iceland, Denmark, Norway, etc. all have the highest quality of living and happiest populations. New Zealand is the least corrupt government on Earth.

Massive wealth and mansions don't make people happy or improve their quality of life. America does not have high quality of living or happiness by world standards.
