I love...LOVE how some of the Trump supporters are trying to downplay what happened last night. But if VA and Jersey had went red, they would've created a new post celebrating victory.

They're such hypocrites. If most Trump supporters weren't such icky people, I'd feel sorry for them.

I think everyone needs to look at the 2018 election map, especially for Senate nationwide. Some years it is an election toss up, so favor one party or the other. 2018 no matter your party affiliation, happens to heavily favor Republicans.

Democrats are defending 24 of the 34 seats up for election. Republicans need only to defend 8. Republicans are defending in states such as Alabama, T.N, Mississippi, Texas, Utah, etc (all red states). I think 2018 in the Senate elections will retain Republican Senate control, at worst status quo for Republicans if there were a Democrat wave.

Exactly correct. We, despite our political views, are able to look at the situation reasonably and discuss this form a political operative point of view. The Democrats in here, on the other hand are behaving hysterically and thinking with their partisan brain.

The Republican in New Jersey was down in polls nearly 20 points and the incumbent was a Republican in a blue state, so yeah if a Republican won it would have been huge news.

Why don't you do that? You should explain the local dynamics in race that caused Republicans to lose seats nobody thought they would lose.

But winning Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania by 0.3 percentage points is a turning of the tides for Republicans?

You're the one who mentioned it, so the burden of proof is on you.

You can read through every post I've ever made and you won't find one, where I said winning one election by 0.3% is turning the tides, but nice try. You're projecting.

From 538.

Quote:
Democrats’ results were consistent enough, and their margins were large enough, that Tuesday’s elections had a wave-like feel. That includes how they performed in Virginia, where Ralph Northam won by considerably more than polls projected. When almost all the tossup races go a certain way, and when the party winning those tossup races also accomplishes certain things that were thought to be extreme long shots (such as possibly winning the Virginia House of Delegates), it’s almost certainly a reflection of the national environment.

In other words, that 37% approval rating is for real.

They would be creating hundreds of gloating posts.

I don't think this is really even a turning of the tides for Democrats. The tides turned for Democrats long ago to the point where it is now virtually impossible for a Democratic candidate to lose the popular vote in a Presidential contest. Democrats either win big or lose narrowly.
