The lengthy Democratic primary contest bodes well for Republican chances of holding the White House, a new poll suggests.

As Democratic Senators Barack Obama of Illinois and Hillary Clinton of New York slug it out for the nomination, many of their supporters -- at least in Pennsylvania, site of the next major primary -- aren't committed to the party's ticket in November, according to a Franklin & Marshall College Poll.

By the time November comes around, the country will be in an economic mess, inflation will be raging and gas will probably be $4 or more a gallon. I am not even worried about McCain winning. He isn't going to.

He will if Obama gets the nomination. The party's conservative and moderate base will not vote for a liberal with ties to the Communist party. You can bet the Repubs are gathering up all those photos of Obama campaign workers with Che posters on the wall and researching Obama's involvement with known Communist aggitator Frank Davis. They will also use Wright's "GOD DAMN AMERICA" soundbite to paint Obama as un-American and un-patriotic.

Remember politics is always "dirty business". The Repubs aren't going to let Obama get away with his past like he has done in the primaries.

The only chance we have is for Hillary to get the nomination. Bill was a popular president and his support will carry a lot of Repubs. Hillary can draw votes from not only the liberal wing of the party but the more moderate and conservative base as well.

Major Minor,

You need to put down the pipe in the morning before posting . . .

KevK is right - either Dem will win in November - it will not even be close - the Rep hole dug by Bush/Cheney is way too deep.

this election cycle will not be the same "trash as usual". repubs cannot demonize blacks or gays like they have in previous elections to win this. the problems are way too intense to get sidetracked from the serious issues: economy, iraq, social security/medicare, healthcare, exporting of jobs, illegal immigration, etc. We need to demand that the media stop sensationalizing and start reporting on what the candidates will do on these issues.

btw, the article comes from newsmax, that extreme right wing rag magazine. that already should disqualify it as truthful journalism.

Newsmax: the same "source" that reported that Obama was in Church during one of those sermons on youtube - then had to retract that later in the day when Obama was actually in Florda that day - with thousands of other people.

Not sure what that is supposed to prove, other then that he just didnt attend church that day, unless your trying to imply that because he wasnt there, he was unaware of the racial atmosphere that the church had. That would be impossible for me to believe.
