A Wisconsin judge Thursday ordered Gov. Scott Walker to call special elections to fill a pair of legislative seats vacated by fellow Republicans, handing a victory to Democrats who have pushed for the elections to be held. Walker has thus far refused, citing he was under no legal obligation to do so, but Dane County Circuit Judge Josann Reynolds disagreed, and has ordered him to issue the order for special elections to fill the two seats no later than March 29th.
Quote:
"The pair of Republican legislators resigned two weeks after an upset Democratic victory in a state Senate district that President Donald Trump carried in 2016 and had been held by a Republican for 17 years.
The win emboldened Wisconsin Democrats who have been calling on Walker to call special elections in the other vacancies: one in the state Assembly and the other in the state Senate."
Walker is expected to appeal the decision. If Walker prevails, constituents in the affected districts would remain without representation until next January.
Dane County. Madison is county seat. Well fancy that.

These special elections are a waste of time and money. Strictly for the benefit of the politicians, not the people. Just have one bloody election day per year for every election, fed, state and local. More people would vote.

People in those districts will go for more than a year without any representation if Walker has his way. The court is right on this one.
