It just shows Democrats are honest about the economy.
And how partisan and mentally screwed up they are that they admit the country is doing well under Trump, better than under Obama, and they'll still vote against him. They'd rather have the country going down the tubes with a Democrat in the WH than have it do well with a Republican running the country.

The economy was already on an upward trajectory during Obama, and by almetrics, gaining more then , than now .
of those that said they approved of trump 71% said they liked his policies.

I found this very interesting stat.
I'm confused that the number is ONLY 71% by those that approve of him. So, they approve of trump, but only 7 of 10 like his policies. What about the other 3 of 10? They like Trump for his personality then?

That's a possibility. Voters do vote for those whose personalities they like. Another possibility is some Trump supporters approve of what he says, but don't approve of what he does.
Still another possibility is some voters are now disappointed in their choice. But they are still willing to stick by their choice in hopes he'll do better eventually.
Approval and disapproval are always complicated, and often the reasons for either are hard to explain or understand. Trump is enjoying quite a strong level of support from his voters.
Most presidents lose much of their early support into their second year of the term, so 71% is pretty good, but both Bush and Obama were in the 80% range by this time in their first terms. Approval rises and falls all the time, so any poll is just a momentary snapshot.
