Well, for the first time, neither party can throw mud at the other for this POS, since he's an "Independent". Frankly, I don't know any Independents that would want him either. He's a real piece of work. This guy needs a barfing emoji for sure.

True, but he opposes the Violence Against Women Act, which was written by Joe Biden, signed by Bill Clinton, and then opposed for renewal in 2012 by several conservative Republicans.
As an independent, he stands no chance for election.
The sad part is, if he was affiliated with a party... he would stand a chance. Since apparently political parties don't really exercise any form of ethics. Look to many of the "winners" that have been put up for election recently and amassed a surprising number of votes.
"Larson’s political ambitions span more than a decade. He first ran for Congress in Virginia’s 1st District in 2008 on what he described as an “anarcho-capitalist” platform. That same year, he sent a letter to the Secret Service threatening to kill the president, which landed him in federal prison for 14 months and barred him from seeking public office.
But in 2016, then-Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) restored voting and other civil rights to thousands of felons, "

I think this is what happens when the people we need to be elected don't want to have their entire lives dragged through the mud in the name of opposition research. If politics were actually a civil affair we might get some really good candidates. But this is the system we have created with the constant attacks on both parties in the media and in social media. We've created this monster and we now have little chance of taming it.
Added: The sooner we all admit this to ourselves and demand better of politicians, the sooner we may see some improvement in our available candidates.

The Violence Against Women Act was just as you said.
But why was it necessary? Violence against women was already illegal in every state. Did the provisions of that bill protect anyone from anything? Doesn't seem like it.
In fact, it did not. The high sounding bill carved out $1.6B which is used for various activities and restitution for victims. It is still funded today at a level slightly below the initial $1.6B, but still several hundred million a year. It "identifies" and "studies" and issues grants but did not solve a problem and will never go away.

Well, OK. But the man in question is not a politician. He has never been elected to anything and probably never will be.
