You realize that Obama doubled our debt ?

If Ms. Cortez has her way and makes everything free free free , what do you think that will do to debt ?

This is the Queens district I grew up in and voted in since before it became the 14th. From everyone I've spoken to, it was more about Crowley losing touch with his constituents : sending his kids to school in Virginia instead of New York, not even showing up to a debate, etc.

It wasn't about people wanting free stuff, it was about kicking Crowley to the curb for taking them for granted.

Yes, and it was really a scummy thing to do and you have never seen me demand a tax cut as it has to be paid for.

Misrepresenting a position does not impress me. It was claimed that Sanders program of continuing education was providing something for "free" when in fact he explained how it would be paid for. I was in full support of that even if it meant I would be one of those paying.

Yeah I’m sure on paper he had a “plan “ for how he would pay for it .

Just like people will have a business plan where they make millions or billions .

It’s not just free education but all the other freebies . There is a lot of poverty in NYC despite it being known as a wealthy city so I can see why some might be attracted to her platform .

But in reality socialism is a fail . I used to think it would be ideal too when I was younger .
Capitalism is the best system overall , although it’s not perfect .

Couldn't agree more, I think the problem is that people mistakenly believe we operate under pure capitalism now, but if you look at our banks, mortgages, higher education, and health care it couldn't be further from the truth and those groups are where the biggest injustices lie.

She isn't a Socialist. One day maybe we will become a Capitalist society, but until then one can not allow the scales to tip all the way to one side.

I mean sure, technically ran as a "Democratic Socialist" but lets not really pretend she isn't heavily on the socialist spectrum.

NPR that right wing publication!

Socialism is attractive to young people , this is why Bernie’s base was pretty young .

It sounds nice in theory but in practice it isn’t .

I say work within capitalism to empower people . Preach entrepreneurship instead of making it seem like private industry and businesses are bad .

There is a lot of opportunity . Socialism is limiting while capitalism has unlimited potential .
