I wanted Bernie, who would have beaten Trump. The DNC ran an anti-democratic primary and looks bound to repeat its mistake with the same result.

Bernie never had a chance to win he was far to liberal. Clinton was seen as old school DEM who been around for years she had baggage could not shake didn't matter what was real or not. Trump was seen as someone who was going to shake up Washington had no ties to anyone with new ideas. I will say that Bernie had way more experience then Clinton she has never had to run for office. She was basically given a senatorial seat in a state that always votes Dem.

No, I'm not wrong. Have you ever studied Progressivism? Do you know what it is, where it came from? It was imported into the U.S. through the University System. It's roots are European socialism. It is Marxist-socialism. Educate yourself.

Progressives don't believe in our Constitution. They believe it is "outdated." They believe socialism is the way of the future ...even thought it has failed everywhere it's been tried.

Bernie is not a liberal, he is a socialist.

Liberals are just capitalist imperialist who won't even allow a social democracy.

What ever you want to call Bernie his views are far to extreme to get elected at least he is honest I give him that. I'm like many voters we want middle not extreme left or right.

I don't know who the Democrat will be who opposes the Republican candidate in 2020, but I do know Trump has lost much of his popularity here in my home state.
Idaho's agriculture industry is our largest employer and the base of this state's wealth. Trump's tariffs have caused some major damage to our crop prices, and the counter-sanctions other nations have begun have increased the damage.

China, for example, has slapped big tariffs of their own on our potatoes, and the Chinese love them. But they don't love them enough to pay the exorbitant prices they now cost there. They may want genuine Idahos, but the Chinese consumer will content himself with Canadian, French, Irish, and other nation's spuds until the prices come back down.

Idaho has become the largest producer of malting barley in the world, and malting barley is a specialty crop with buyers that are very picky and selective. It too is taking a big hit, but from Mexico, not China. The Mexican beer market is larger than ours, and the big Mexican breweries now own Budweiser and other huge American brands.

As a result, the Mexicans also own almost all of the seed barley that is specifically grown for malting. The farmers who grow the crop all get their seed from only a few sources, and the crop is grown under contract, which makes growing the crop both less risky and far more profitable.
So now, the Mexicans are no longer writing those contracts and aren't supplying the seed stock. There's enough seed to keep the industry going for a few more years, but once the stock is depleted, there goes an entire industry here.

American agriculture grows enough to supply almost the entire world with staple food products. It has grown large from international sales. But once those sales are choked off by the tariffs, the only thing the farmers can do to survive is to bite the bullet, plant less, and hope for the higher domestic prices we all will be paying will sustain their farm operations.

The days of profitability will be gone again once that happens. The large corporate farms can break even for a while, but the smaller farms can not. And the smaller farms remain the ones who supply most of our food.

After over 30 years of hard times, the past 10 years of international profitability have done a lot to restore American farms. The profits the farmers made allowed them to buy new equipment, till more ground, and operate at less cost. But the tariffs are rapidly reversing all that now, and once the damage is done, it will take many years to recover again.

The farmers have already been through all this before. And they are both angry and discouraged. If the situation doesn't change, the United States could become like Japan, where basic foods like potatoes can cost up to a dollar for a single prime baking spud.

Worse, the average age of the American farmer is now bumping 60. If there is no profit in agriculture, young men and women won't be taking up the profession once these old guys finally quit. Where will we all be when our imported food costs more than our domestic food?

And that's why Trump isn't real popular here nowadays.
