It seems like an odd state to dump money into. there are not very many voters in Montana. Probably could have just paid $500 per vote and won while spending less money.
Of course it is. Tester is conservative for a Democrat.

Democrat != flaming liberal

Yup. John Tester is scrappy, all right. He did mange to scrape out another win.

Montana ain't Texas.

Even so, I don't look at this as a defeat for Trump. It looks more like a stand-off to me.

Montana throughout history has generally been a bit more on the Democratic spectrum when it comes to state and county government and policies. The current state Governor is a Democrat. It's only been considered a Republican state in Presidential elections since 1996.

Obama campaigned for Donnelly, Gillum, Nelson, and Abrams...Obama is the real loser.

Yup.
Montana has always been a swing state, much like Ohio.

Donnelly was going to be a very difficult race for Dems. He only won in 2012 because his opponent was a dolt who made stupid comments about race and Presidential turnout tend to be better for Democrats. That is also how McAskill held on in 2012 while her state grew more Republican.

I think Georgia was actually pretty good- to run an actual progressive candidate and Georgia and keep it to a one point race is huge. Georgia and North Carolina are approaching the position Virginia was in the early 00s. Trending towards Ds but not in reach. Dems absolutely had to get their voters used to actually showing up to vote and showing prospective candidates they can be competitive. In 4 years I could see Dems winning statewide in Georgia for the first time in a generation.

Florida was a loss- Dems have basically mastered the art of the 1 point loss in Florida in off years.

The big takeaway for Obama was that Dems restored his march threw the Rustbelt in Pa, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Iowa went R for governor in a tight race but Ds actually picked up congressional seats there.

The big question moving forward is if Dems focus on Georgia, Arizona and NC that are trending more D in place of Florida or Ohio.

Yea and they would have taken the money and still voted for Tester. Turn the tables on the grifter for a change.

Actually his dumb comment was that abortion even in cases of rape shouldn't be allowed because God intended for those rapes to happen.
