Not Florida, but a repeating theme, Orange County California, the all Republican county, it went all blue. Suburbs, women...

This is certainly true I am guessing but what so many forget is: many dems or normally non voters came out to support him in 2016. Those same voters are likely to come out in 2020.

The Democrat candidates for the US House garnered the biggest winning margin of votes (+8.6M) in a House election by either party since the 1974 election during the Watergate scandal (D's had +8.7M then).

Democrats won House popular vote by largest midterm margin since Watergate
Nationally, Democrats have 53.1 percent of all votes counted while Republicans took 45.2 percent.

Thank God.
Can you imagine how disastrous it would be for Trump 2020 if Republicans won the House too?
I think losing the House is enough to motivate Republicans, even if winning the Senate may have created a dangerous sense of security (the President has only won the Senate in 5 midterms for the last 105 years).
Of course, Republicans will be twice as motivated when Trump is on the ballot anyway.
That's why it was so amazing that Republicans won Florida Senate and Governorship without Trump being on the ballot.

The Trumpist base was fully mobilized in 2018. As Trump himself said, it was as if his name were on the ballot.

But guess what? He motivated more people to vote Democratic than vote Republican.

He’s lost Independents and college grads, and with them the suburbs.

Trump tried to make his base think he's on the ballot, but Trump's base despises Congress, so there was no chance of them voting.

TRUMP: I didn’t run. I wasn’t running. My name wasn’t on the ballot. There are many people that think, “I don’t like Congress,” that like me a lot. I get it all the time; “Sir, we’ll never vote unless you’re on the ballot.” I get it all the time. People are saying, “Sir, I will never vote unless you’re on the ballot. I say, “No, no, go and vote.” “Well, what do you mean?” As much as I try and convince people to go vote, I’m not on the ballot.

If Trump is on the ballot, no chance of a Democrat victory.
We've never seen a party more reliant on their President, with a large segment of voters only willing to vote specifically for Trump and only Trump.
Democrats know it, and thus the need to impeach Trump.
Of course they have no chance of impeaching him, because they don't have the Senate.
That's why they are so desperate for Mueller to pull a rabbit out of the hat.
Democrats literally need Trump imprisoned, or Republicans have 2020 in the bag.
Trump hasn't expanded his base despite all the fake right wing news suggesting otherwise. Meanwhile he's pushing independents toward the dems

The midterm results suggest the most plausible path to defeating Trump goes through holding all 20 Clinton 2016 states, then taking the 3 states Trump won by less than 1% (Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin). Those states demonstrated they are very willing to vote for certain Democrats, even though they rejected Hillary Clinton.

If Democrats fall short in Wisconsin (10 EV), then Arizona (11 EV) is also promising as an alternative. But winning back Pennsylvania (20 EV) and Michigan (16 EV) is mandatory and the Democratic campaign needs to prioritize their visits accordingly. This would be a good time to start becoming best friends with Senators Casey, Stabenow and Baldwin, as well as Governors Wolf, Whitmer and Evers ... and soon-to-be Senator Sinema should get some attention as well.

Ohio and Florida are not in the top tier of targets and Trump could very well hold onto those states while being ousted from the White House. This would be the first time since 1960 that Ohio didn't vote for the presidential winner.

When the voter rolls and election commission are cleaned up in Florida Trump will have an easy win.

LOL

Voter fraud isn’t Trump’s problem.

His base was smaller than the Democrats’ to begin with. His win depended not only on his base showing up, but low turnout for his opponents.

Since then he’s lost independents and suburbia and energized the opposition.

He’s done nothing to expand his base and his base gets smaller every day just due to aging and demographic change.

He’s incapable of winning “easily”.

It will be another win by virtue of the electoral college, while losing the pol vote by millions, or a blow out loss.
