Poor dear. You think the USA South consists of Deplorables and now you tell us that Missouri is Southern and hence Deplorable too, because Claire McCaskill got booted out of the Senate.
The Derangment has to be seen to be believed.
Doesn't look like anyone sent anything about deplorables.... What appears to have been said is that Missouri is not the traditional Midwestern state it sometimes gets made out to be and is more of a mix of Midwestern & Southern in nature. The St. Louis and KC metro area and suburbs have generally trended Democratic, but much of the rest of the state is rural and has trended Republican. The state has been more Republican than the nation as a whole in every Presidential election since 1996 and has continued to trend in that direction.
Having spent time in Missouri, I was very surprised when they passed so-called 'Constitutional Carry' (people allowed to carry guns without having a permit). There are now 13 such states, mostly pretty far right. Vermont is the exception, but has had this system in place for many years.
Missouri used to be the home of Richard Gephardt, who was long in house leadership, and was a blue-collar, old school Democrat. Some of this perhaps just reflects the leftward drift of the Democratic party.
Interesting, btw, that 13 is also the minimum number of states needed to block a constitutional amendment.

What jas75 said. Living here in Missouri, I've observed that, while it's definitely Midwestern, there *is* a pretty noticeable Southern flavor to some of it. You get people who grew up in two houses right next to each other, and one of them will have a Southern accent, and the other won't. Also, Missouri is the only Midwestern state where the largest Protestant denomination is the Southern Baptists. That alone tells you it's got a fair amount of Southern influence. After all, it was a slave state, too.

"Poor dear?" My God, you are condescending.
James said nothing at all about Deplorables, nor did he say that the entire state is southern. He said some of it has a southern flavor, and that is correct. Have you lived there? He does, and I grew up there. The same thing could be said of Indiana, another state in which I have resided. Parts of it have a southern feel. It's conservatism, but it's not the same sort of conservatism as in, say, Alaska, which tends to be less religious and more libertarian.

Slaves state? Southern Baptists? In a topic about Claire McCaskil losing her seat. If that is all one can say about the South, then it's clear the motive.

Of course I don't. And I don't characterize the South as slave states. Those that do, clearly tell us what they think however. Don't you agree?

What they are telling us is that they have read a history book.
