I really don't know. With the election and 1 1/2 years away, all we have now is our best guess. But I still have to ask.....

A lot of people -- directly or by ripple effect -- are adversely affected by the current gov't shutdown/furlough situation. As for the presidential and Congressional races:

-- Do you think voter affected will be more likely to vote out their incumbents. Will there be a change in the dynamics of voters think other politicians are bad, but their incumbent is OK?

-- Is there no way in hell Republicans will hold on to the WH? .... no matter who the Democratic candidates are?

-- A year-and-a-half from now who will voters blame (punish) more?
-- Might any politicians now involved be rewarded with more support?
-- Are there any incumbents who have solidified their support?

Evn as I ask these questions...for me the answer is "I just. don't. know."

Sure people will remember it just depends on who they blame for the shut down. Those who like Trump see the government shutdown as the Democrats fault. Those who don't like him see it as Trumps fault.

Depends on how much longer it goes on, I would think.

If it goes on another few weeks I doubt anyone will care in 2020...…
If it goes on another few months....it will likely hurt some politicians...i'm not sure who
If it is still going on in 2020...….people will be really mad.....but I'm still not sure what it will mean at the ballot box

YES definitely and that democrats insisted on keeping the government closed.

both parties were given the keys to the lock. Trump made several efforts to compromise. The democrats made none and in an hysterical tantrum forgot they were for exactly what they now call immoral. Lack of transition and memory makes promises made by democrats on faith a losing proposition. Not unlike NK, the democrats have taken a page out of NK history where they make false promises and reneg on promises once they get their way.

Dems could not look any more foolish, spiteful and demonstrate their nonchalance in using people they pretend to protect for political sacrifice.

nope...

2013 GOP massive blame

2014 landslide

1995 Massive blame (not sure why? but yeah)

1996 keep control of congress

GOP always gets blamed for shutdowns... because the dems own the media/celebs

They will remember, but they won't do anything about it. We have regressed into a country of do-nothings.
