The only time I am aware that Bernie Sanders has been a Democrat from young adulthood (or birth?) to now at age 77.7 years old have been the last few months when he had to be to sustain presence in the 2020 Democratic Party Presidential primary. He has already filed as an Independent if / when he tries to be re-elected to his Senate seat in 2024, consistent with (to my knowledge).. his entire adult life outside the Democratic Party.

All that matters is that Bernie Sanders is a Democrat *now.*

You move on if you want. Others might hold this against your candidate. I haven't yet, but we'll see.

This won't be an issue in 2020.

People should vote for the person , not the party. Unfortunately that is not the case for many.

Exactly.

Party loyalty is a ridiculously petty thing and a waste of time for adults to get hung up on. This isn't high school where likeability is based on what clique you belong to.

The question is are they the candidate who supoorts policies that will benefit me and also fight hard for them in a leadership role. For many people, Sanders is that person, regardlees of the letter next to his name. End of story.

Party loyalty and church loyalty are the same racket.

That's why people voted for Trump. I suspect Hillary voters were Party loyalists.
