Retired Admiral, well regarded by peers. Former congressman, rated as effective. From Pennsylvania. Bucked Democratic leaders a couple of times but not ultimately successfully. Bucked his military superiors by calling for a smaller Navy. Has a PhD from Harvard. Sounds interesting to me to some degree. 67 I think.
Will he catch a wave? Probably not. But he is the newest name in race.

Could be considered for VP by some candidates.
Remember the name here in PA. Seems to have common sense which would rule him out in today's communist democratic party.
That a high ranking, long serving Admiral identifies as a Democrat offers a contrast with the way some define the Democratic party, usually from the outside.
I now read he was an independent before becoming a Democrat. Understandable as a career military. An independent minded Democrat. A lot of folks say that they are like that and they'd like that in a candidate. Maybe not the Democratic base though.
I was looking at his positions on issues a couple days ago, comes across as pretty liberal. Still, more sane than the current crop of clowns. Will be interesting to see him at the debates.
Don't like him. Huge "gun control" advocate and typical tax and spend Democrat. Thinks he's smarter than everyone. Lost to relative unknown Pat Toomey in election for Senate a few years ago. He's not really running for President. He is running for name recognition for future elected political positions, or a cabinet slot. Many in the Democrat Clown Car are doing the same.
Admirals and Generals each command multi-thousands of people. Far more people than the CEO of a large corporation, or even many politician's constituents. Unlike civilian life, every order an Admiral gives is expected to be obeyed in full.
That can create an expectation in some of them that what they say is what will happen, and that isn't a real good mind set for a newbie politician.
While the mind set is not universal, as there have been several Generals and Admirals who have run for public office in the past, we won't actually know if it's there until Sestak shows it. Or not.
Some of our former Flag officers are filled with hubris after they retire, while others are filled with humility. We'll see soon enough what's in Sestak.
