Obama wants to paint himself as a candidate of change while partnering with Antoin "Tony" Rezko, a Syrian born, Chicago based real estate developer and restaurateur to purchase this home for Obama. Rezko made his fortune in donating to candidates and receiving lucrative contracts that ironically, take advantage of poor African-Americans.
So as a elected political leader, do guys of real change, change you can believe in, keep their distance from guys like Rezko?
Picture this scenario. Obama wants the house – who wouldn't? It's just a bit out of his reach. But. . . thank goodness for typical politics. The seller is selling this home and an adjacent property. So Obama gets the seller to cut the asking price of the home and gets his buddy Rezko to buy the adjacent lot for full price. The seller wanted a one day transaction – not separate deals and Obama, incredulously, still maintains the simultaneous purchase by himself and Rezko was coincidental and not coordinated.
After the dust settles, Rezko sells Obama part of his own property in order to give him a bigger back yard and reduce the possibility of development of his own adjacent property. All this while Obama is writing letters of support for Rezko and his proposal to develop low-income senior citizen housing in which Rezko received nearly $15 mil of taxpayer dollars. And all during a time when Rezko was under open investigation by investigators. Since his arrest, Obama has thrown him under the same bus as his grandmother and Wright. It’s getting crowded under there!
I've been around. Politics is politics. Deals are deals. Just keep the above in mind when thinking he is really the change we can believe in. It's just good old Cook County politics.

Reason: Copyright issues.
How many times are you going to start this thread.
In reading another thread on this very issue, someone posted the following conversation, it sums up my feelings about the Rezko issues quite well.
"REZKO!"
"What about him?"
"OBAMA AND REZKO!"
"What about them?"
"WHY IS THE MEDIA IGNORING OBAMA AND REZKO!?!?!"
"Well, they didn't at first, but it is because it turned out that there was no story there."
"REZKO!REZKO!OBAMA AND REZKO!WAKE UP OBAMABOT!"

So right but most are in denial. This applies to both parties equally! It is just politics 101.

The reason this isn't a story is that it's not a story. He paid fair market value for a plot of land from a guy who turned out to be a crook. However, he's a crook for matters wholely unrelated to selling land at fair market value. To date, there has been no evidence put forth that Obama did anything as a favor to Rezko in exchange for purchasing land at fair market value.
The Tribune is a notoriously conservative paper and this is what they had to say about it.

What?! The tribune endorsed Obama and are now covering their tracks.
Obama bought the home from an innocent doctor; not Rezko. At the time, he couldn't afford it so he swung a deal -- he bought it for less than market price while having his buddy Rezko buy the adjacent lot from the same seller at over market price on the same day and denies there was any collaboration!! Then as icing on the cake, he buys a portion of lot from his buddy. All this while said buddy, Rezko, was under investigation by the feds and Obama's busy writing letters of support so that Rezko can, and does, win more gov't contracts to the tune of 15 mil.
All good ole politics but this represents the change you guys can believe in???

Yes, the Tribune editorial board, who hasn't endorsed a democrat for the general election in over 80 years, is knee deep in that Obama conspiracy.
He bought an adjacent strip of land for fair market value. I'm outraged.
