The mismanagement of New York is on New York. Trump is the president, not a dictator.

He's a logical fallacy machine, too.....I just can't believe he continues to seem to get away with them. Yesterday he said something like "there are lots of people who think masks don't work"....then was ask to name one (his waiter). But he does this ALL THE TIME: argumentum ad populum (Latin for "appeal to the people") is a fallacious argument that concludes that a proposition must be true because many or most people believe it, often concisely encapsulated as: "If many believe so, it is so".

He also said this:
"If there's not a race problem at least not with me" or something like that...... Another logical fallacy. I'm not quite sure of the name for it. Something like "if one, then all".......so if Trump doesn't have a race problem himself, the entire nation/population doesn't. Maybe someone can help me with this one - there's a formal name for this fallacy.

Or maybe it doesn't compute to him that it's his job to fix our race issues as our leader/president. Not different than any CEO of a corporation, General Officer in the military. Our society has made race relations a priority that needs to be fixed.

The whole premise from the question and Stephanop was focus on the gap... but there's still a gap.

Well why is there a gap? What responsibility do black folk have in closing the gap? Do we just sit around waiting for the gap to close by itself?

If I am working for a white-owned company, I am making an income but the owner will make more. That doesn't close the gap. To me, the gap closes as more black owned businesses come into existence. And then I would had made mention of how the riots are hurting minority businesses - which increases income inequality.

The other thing is that if the gap closes, blacks may be doing better - but does that means whites are doing worse? I want everyone doing better.
Very well said. Totally agree. Time to take some responsibility and stop acting like an oppressed victim. Its simply not true.

Over 180,000 COVID-related deaths in the US as of today, per the CDC itself. Are you saying it's actually 10,000, do I understand you correctly?
Maybe is 10,000 under the age of 70 with no co-morbilities. Thats how I read it.

Trump's inaction is very definitely killing people. 200,000 and counting.

Hmmm. I think I see your point. Then to Grumpy Ol Man: a thought experiment: if an individual had comorbidities, in a US in which COVID had been effectively controlled by a thoughtful response, would that individual not have a much better chance of still being alive today? Without COVID would the comorbidity have killed them?

States have the PRIMARY responsibility for public health.

The federal gov't plays a support role to the states public health inititatives.

Both Cuomo & Newsom both said Trump did a good job in supporting their efforts.

Your comment equates to:

-blaming the state of Connecticut, for failing to intercept an incoming Russian ICBM.

-blaming the state of Maine from negotiating a new trade deal with Australia.

-blaming the state of Oregon for failing to stop Iran from shipping oil to North Korea.

You comment demonstrates a total lack of understanding of how our government works.

By your line of reasoning, Trump saved 4,070,279 Americans from Covid-19, as of this morning (9-16-20)

His maga fans are his "herd mentality". All I could think of was obama and how his supporters with "herd mentality" and the media fawning all over him, never asking a tough question, etc.

And then when obama being called "the Messiahs", NEVER a word of complaint from ANY dem and certainly NOT the left media!

AH, the left and it's short memories!

So save us the "concern" NOW!

I read it the same way. The CDC said only 10,000 died of Covid-19 ALONE...no co-morbidities, and they also said the average person who died had 2.6 co-morbidities. So, they were likely obease, had high blood pressure and heart desease, or were diabetic. Those were the most common co-morbidities.

A bad strain of the flu may have taken quite a few of these people out imho.

Covid-19 was grossly overplayed by the gov't, and the media....it became a political weapon.

Of course you would blame a worldwide pandemic on Trump.
