This was not a winning strategy for Hillary in 2016. Granted times are a bit different, but it seems that he ought to get out of the basement a bit more.
They are trying to limit Joe's exposure to covid-19. Considering his age, this makes perfect sense from a science based perspective, and that's why he does not have to earn the vote of folks on the left by campaigning.
How dare Biden make a joke in which the audience laughed with him!!! Why can't he respect the military like Trump, who has only allowed them to be murdered by bounties, mocked them as losers for their service, mocked POWs and trashed Gold Star families? That's true respect!!

They could easily limit Biden's personal contact with anyone on these trips. The dude isn't even holding events in his basement!

Biden is holding events around the country and doing so in a guarded manner for all involved. You can pretend he isn't, but fact is, he has been actively campaigning. Yes, he could protect only himself and disregard everyone else's health and safety and promote Trumpian style super-spreader events, that insulate only himself, as you suggest, but he has been clear as to what comes first. And it isn't Biden's needs over those of the people.
It is interesting that you pointed out President Trump's abuse of power and don't think there is anything wrong with putting others in harms way for his own personal gain. I know Trump touts how personally safe and protected he is, but it remains mind boggling that folks countenance and champion the actions of a President of the United States who garishly disregards his own administration's public health guidelines, not to mention those of the local and state leaders he ignores. You know, science and guidelines meant to protect we the people. Why stand below this man and cheer him as he takes "all the best" precautions for himself while blatantly denying them to the rest of us.

It wouldn't have anything to do with believing respected journalists and highly regarded print and television organizations are fake news would it?

Exactly! Donald Trump's campaign is broke, they aren't spending money on ads. Campaign rallies are free, that's why Donald Trump prefers them, free publicity.
Efforts like the Lincoln Project are evidence of it.
There are quite a few never trumpers who are center to center-right R voters typically.
The Lincoln project is mostly liberals posing as Republicans. Why else would they hate on any Republican and not just Trump? Maybe the intent was for “republicans against Trump” but that is not how it turned out.

The answer is that they are mostly hating on other Republicans that have enabled Trump and there can’t be any distinction if Trumpism is going to be defeated in this election.
