I guess the will of the people may mean little if Arizona Republicans can overturn state presidential election results it doesn't like.

Here is a link to the proposed bill:

https://www.azleg.gov/legtext/55leg/...ls/HB2720P.pdf

The pertinent language:

NOTWITHSTANDING SUBSECTION A OF THIS SECTION, THE LEGISLATURERETAINS ITS LEGISLATIVE AUTHORITY REGARDING THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTOR AND BY MAJORITY VOTE AT ANY TIME BEFORE THE PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION MAY REVOKE THE SECRETARY OF STATE'S ISSUANCE OR CERTIFICATION OF A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTOR'S CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION. THE LEGISLATURE MAY TAKE ACTION PURSUANT TO THIS SUBSECTION WITHOUT REGARD TO WHETHER THE LEGISLATURE IS IN REGULAR OR SPECIAL SESSION OR HAS HELD COMMITTEE OR OTHER HEARINGS ON THE MATTER.

This proves, of course, that any idiot member of a state legislature may introduce any idiot bill. Note that the bill's provisions directly contradict Federal election law.

A babble of tongues, signifying nothing.

They know the only way Arizona can get rid of their Democratic senators and vote for the 2024 GOP presidential candidate is to cheat and overturn the will of the people. Naked power grab.

Plus, in Georgia, a bill has been introduced mandating that for a person to vote absentee, they must first provide a copy of their ID to election officials.

Not once, but twice. You must mail in a copy of your ID twice. If you fail to do so, no absentee ballot for you!

Why bother holding an election in the first place. They can have a banana republic state where the state dictators just decide whom they'll certify. I wonder if non-extremist voters will stand for it, or vote out the current "leadership" in droves in 2022.

Typical Republican sore losers.

Don't see how it would be constitutional and it would prob be tossed out by the courts.

Republicans barely have a majority in the Arizona legislature. What if they somehow passed this ridiculous bill and then a future Democratic majority uses it to deny a future Republican nominee who legitimately wins the state?

It will save us a lot of money in Arizona if the G(Q)OP can just name the winners after the Republican primary. There will be no need for a Democratic primary or a general election. It is a good thing Ducey is not running for senate in 2022. He would be under enormous pressure to sign all these anti-democracy efforts that the nutjobs are introducing.

Probably not constitutional so even if it passed, their supreme court would toss it.
