Cartoons: Clinton
MSNBC.com's editorial cartoonists weigh in on Hillary Clinton's candidacy.
Just found this on MSNBC and I thought I should share since her Kennedy comments have everyone down on her. This hopefully will give everyone a good smile. Evidently Obama has accepted her apology.
Gotta admit I'll be watching Saturday Night Live tonight. Because this whole thing is so bizarre it's funny. (Yes, first and foremost it is important to be appalled by an assassination reference. But we can laugh and be appalled at the same time).
All you have to do is scroll through the posts from yesterday to realize this is the motherlode for comedians. There are so many jokes you could make it's hard to know which ones to pick. I'm just sorry I missed Leno last night.
Here's a clip for posted article. I was waiting for a reaction from the Kennedy's If the Kennedy's don't take offense, why should anyone else?
Clip:
Robert Kennedy Jr., son of the slain senator, said in a statement, "It is clear from the context that Hillary was invoking a familiar political circumstance in order to support her decision to stay in the race through June."
"I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense," said Kennedy, a Clinton supporter unlike some other members of his family, including Sen. Edward Kennedy, who back Obama.
A close Obama ally in the Senate, Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, said he accepted her explanation.
"I know Hillary Clinton, and the last thing in the world she'd ever want is to wish misfortune on anybody. She and Barack are friends," Durbin said. "It was ... a careless remark and we'll leave it at that."
Careless at this point in time for her is bad enough. Clinging on by a thread you would think that she would be more careful. If she is exhausted, is she really ready for a general campaign? Is she really coming across as presidential these days. She is the one behind and needs a miracle or a big Obama gaffe so what does she do?

Saturday Night may well be a rerun with the holiday and she has until Tuesday for it to blow over. It might not hurt her as bad as if it had happened last weekend. Her big problem is that she is now in damage control and not asset building.

Well, if this was only about being insensitive to the Kennedy family I might agree with you. But this incident was disturbing on a number of levels, many of which I've already gone over.
I'm not the type to rehash arguments, I've explained my concerns. Either you agree or you don't. Let's move on, because it's time for jokes and satire.

A supporter named Kennedy rushing to her defense is that speaking for the family or for the campaign?
As I've said before - Politicians are professional speakers, for them to make a statement and think we should be so gullible as to not understand the inference of a statement is completely asinine. All professional speakers, as well as writers (including the Press), have a particular gift - it is to infer meaning to statements without actually saying something point blank. If one can't see or appreciate this skill, it is only a testament to either, how good they are or how gullible the listener.
I expect her friends to defend her, wouldn't yours?
What I refuse to believe is a Senior member of Government made a reference with no foresight of how the intended reference could be seen. This thing could have turned out one of two ways, the gamble came up craps.
Rats, you're right--I just found out SNL is a repeat tonight.
Well, if they did have a new show tonight I'd want Tuborg to write the opening skit anyway.
