She’s a respiratory therapist, and is married to a border agent. Her opponent, Dan Sanchez, didn’t receive much support from the DNC, touting himself as a pro-life democrat. The democrat who held the seat before this election was there 10 years, so quite a flip for new Rep. Flores. She’ll have a short first term, as she’ll have to run again in January. History made tonight!

Democratic Congressman Vicente Gonzalez who currently represents the 15th district is running in the 34th in November. This was a special in which the Democrat running was not going to be running for the seat in November, it really wasn't seriously contested. The district in November will be a bit more Democratic in November, as the GOP made it more Democratic in order make surrounding districts more Republican.

The Democrats were sure she would lose. She was running against a politician and this is her first campaign.

When Mayra was asked during her campaign about her opponent Dan Sanchez, she replied- “ I don’t know him, he doesn’t live here.” In Texas, you don’t have to live in a Congressional District to run to be the Representative of that District.

She will have to run again in November, again against a Current CongressCritter who doesn’t live in Cameron County. This District is more heavily Democrat that his District, so he thinks it easy pickings. He almost lost his last Election.

Democrats are shrugging over this loss and say it’s only for a couple of months until they get it back. They are very arrogant AND very out of touch with the changes in the Rio Grande Valley. Women are rising and they are speaking out about the real issues they face daily. Inflation, Crime, Education & Border Security.

A VERY clever reply, I think.
It was a way for her to sharply criticize him without appearing to be mean spirited, or attacking anyone who had voted for him.
She'll do well in politics.

Another Democratic Congressman Vicente Gonzalez is running in the district in November, Democrats were not seriously contesting the district in the Special.

Probably because the Democrats are defending so many House seats that they need to spend their limited funds on winnable races, which are few and far between.

Culture wars and inflation mean Ds are swimming against the current in most races this year. DNC adds to problem by spending with heart (like Booker's unwinnable senate race in KY) rather than head (winnable swing districts).

With an Incumbent running here in November for the Democrats and it being more Democratic than the current district (due to Republicans making surrounding districts more secure), they will be spending here in November.

Hispanics left the Liberal block in massive numbers, & this Texas election reflects that.

Hispanics believe in legal immigration, hard work, law & order, religion, & tight families, so they are more closely aligned with Pubs.
