With Sen. Barack Obama on the verge of becoming the first African-American to receive a major party's presidential nomination, racism and potential security issues are emerging as factors in the race to the White House.
However, I hope there wont be a rash of articles worrying and tugging at this topic. People may begin to wonder about others' reactions to a black President, and by not voting or voting for Hillary or McCain hope to avert the whole issue "for everyone's good."
Ummmmm, I'm more concerned about terrorists than racists. Frankly, anyone we nominate for this race will need extra security.
Hello--we have managed to tick off thousands and thousands of people all over the world. There are plenty of groups that would love to create anarchy in the election or bump off an incoming president. Race issues are the least of our concerns.
So far, we've had several Presidents shot. They've all been white guys. I don't see where race is really an issue. The job/position is just a dangerous one.
I think potential security issues would be due to his many outrageous stances and statements rather than his race.
Then that would confirm the sheer and utter stupidity of those who get upset if you think that could be a reaction.
