1. You have to be against capital punishment but support abortion on
demand.

I Support abortion on demand (not public funding) and I support capital punishment as long as we are 100% sure of guilt.
2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and Governments
create prosperity.

Business creates prosperity and government ensures prosperity. It is a proper role of government to regulate business and not allow businesses to abuse shareholders, customers or employees or unfairly compete in the marketplace.
3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans
are more of a threat than Nuclear weapons technology in the hands of
Chinese and North Korean communists.

Guns in the hands of untrained Americans that do not know how to safely and legally use them ARE more of a threat than nukes in China and N Korea. Not a single nuke from either country has killed one American, let alone 20,000 or so a year that guns kill. I am for gun rights and I think Americans should be allowed to have and carry- openly or concealed- firearms IF they have proper training and prove at the range that they can safely handle a firearm and have no criminal and mental background.
4. You have to believe that there was no art before Federal Funding.
I am not really into artsy stuff myself but art is important to alot of people and we really spend very little on it. Probably less than 0000.1% of the budget.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by
documented cyclical changes in the earth's climate and more affected by
soccer moms driving SUV's.

I don't really care about climate change. Some liberals do. I don't. I am not certain it is even happening and, if it is, I am not certain we are causing it and, if we are, what the hell- it is too cold in the winter anyway. SUVs however are a different matter. The drink up gas and pollute the air and, despite the "soccer mom" thing, 99% of the time I see a monster SUV, it is occupied by a single person. They should have been banned a decade ago. Hopefully high gas prices will do what the government should have done and get rid of the things. There is not too much an Expedition will hual that an Explorer won't.
6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being
homosexual is natural.

Nobody yet knows what causes homosexuality. We do know however that it is nautural to the homosexual. It is not something they got up one day and chose. So we should not bash them and deny them full citizenship rights.
7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of
Federal funding.

No it is spread by stupidity. Federal funding can help eliminate the stupidity. Same with smoking cigarettes.
8. You have to believe that the teacher who can't teach fourth Graders
how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.

4th grade is too early but by the 6th grade we should be teaching it. And the teacher that teaches health should teach it.

9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but Loony
activists who have never been outside of San Francisco do.

Hunters care about killing whatever they are hunting. They don't care about nature. As for people in San Fransisco, they may or may not. SF has lots of parks and beaches so it would seem to be a place where you would expect some people to care about it I guess.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually
doing something to earn it.

No. I just do not believe that slower people should be ridiculed. Especially when I see some "accomplished" people doing stupid things that get them killed- like running into trees and smoking.
11. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts
of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain
parts of the Constitution.

I am a member of both the NRA and the ACLU. I have some disagreements with both of them but their basic missions I do agree with. No right is absolute but some are close.
12. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too
high.

Taxes on the rich are way too low and ATM fees on working folks are way too high.
13. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more
important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Edison and
Alexander Graham Bell.

The 2 women are more important to today. The men mentioned were more important to yesterday. If Bell had not invented the phone, somebody else would have. It might have been 5 years later in coming but we would have got it. Women's rights are as important as a phone is.
14. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial
quotas and affirmative action are not.
Standardized test are culturally biased. Only the math is universal. The verbal section of the SAT contains words and phrases more likely to be heard and used in white upper class environments. Even poor whites have trouble with it. My daughter had trouble with it but made a high enough score on the math portion that she did OK. They are also not a great predictor of how well you will do in college. A recent study done in Texas compared the students admitted by race blind affirmative action (everybody in the top 10% of the high school class is granted automatic admittance) with those admitted for high SAT scores and it found that there was almost ZERO difference in academic performance between the groups and in fact, the 10% group actually did better than the SAT group in some majors. I am for affirmative action but not based on race.

15. You have to believe that Hillary Clinton is normal and is a very
nice person.

Well I fail on that one. She is politically able but not "nice" at all.
16. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked
anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in
charge.

No, it did not work because we are all greedy. Greed is a natural human thing that Marx failed to take into account. Greed is good in moderation. It produces competition, innovation and better things for us all. But it must be held in check. When GM has greed, they produce a better car at a better price than Ford and are rewarded by market for doing so. But when GM's greed crosses the line to where they are cheating, lying, stealing and doing underhanded things to hurt Ford, they have to be reined in by the government.
17. You have to believe conservatives telling the truth belong in jail,
but a liar and a cheat belonged in the White House.

I think Bill Clinton should have been removed from office and charged with perjury for lying under oath. The laws should apply equally to everybody.
18. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag queens,
transvestites and bestiality should be constitutionally protected, but
that manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

Manger scenes are public property are perfectly fine as long as other religions are allowed on the property to display their scenes. Gay parades are free speech. And you can protect at them if you wish and that is also free speech.
19 You have to believe that illegal Democrat Party funding by the
Chinese Government is somehow in the best interest to the United States.

20. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right
wing conspiracy.

21. You have to believe that it's okay to give Federal workers the day
off on Christmas Day ..........but it's not okay to say "Merry
Christmas."

Well thanks for letting me know what I'm "supposed" to believe as a Democrat and Liberal.

One might just as well say that conservatives have to believe in serfdom, the divine right of kings, no taxes on the nobility and the death penalty for stealing bread.

In any event I don't hold with abortion OR the death penalty.

I believe in capitalism but also believe in trade unions to control it.

I believe in the right of law abiding citizens to own guns.

I don't give a hoot about people's gender or sexual preference.

I believe it's government's job to stop injustice and provide a level playing field.

I believe it's government's job to provide education and health care.

I believe in our form of representative government.

This will be a lengthy post, I'll try to make it interesting though.

Sounds about right, government money shouldn't go to killing babies. In my honest opinion, that is just the same as a government-issued death sentence. I have a neutral stand on abortion; the person getting the abortion should pay for it, and it should be before a certain point in the baby's development. Capital punishment may not be the best way to handle certain things, but I believe it should be reserved for the worst of the worst.

I suppose I agree here, regulation should insure businesses don't step out of line, or harm the general public.

Well, more people drown in swimming pools each year than are killed by guns. Nuclear weapons can cause lasting physical aliments, far worse than those caused by firearms. I semi-agree that people should be somewhat trained, or have taken a class in order to purchase a firearm.

The arts can flourish without government handouts.

Global Warming is in fact a natural process that humans do somewhat expedite. However, the Earth always finds a way to balance itself out, or to 'reset'. In this case, Oceanic Stagnation is the process used to re-freeze ice caps, and to restore the Earth's atmosphere.

Some homosexuals are 'natural', others pretend to be that way for attention, and/or just to be different. I have no problems with the 'natural' ones, but those who fake it deserve nothing. Otherwise, I could careless.

Hunters were the first environmentalists. I am hunter, and I took the qualification tests. Obviously someone like me (hunt for food and for sport), would want the supply there next year. It is not like hunters just run in the woods and kill Bambi. Human beings have always hunted, so I have no problem with living my life, and I refuse to allow some San Francisco Leftist (who probably hasn't experienced the real world yet) tell me how to live.

Taxes are not low. I abandoned the ATM long ago, so that doesn't directly affect me.

Socialism and Communism were supposed to be implemented in a Utopian society that does not exist, nor will it ever exist in human societies. Unless, of course, you teach everyone at an early age not to question anything, and execute free thinkers upon occasion.

I find it rather funny that Democrats can be so blinded by their beliefs, but free county you know. What really bothers me is that Democrats advertise that they accept everyone, yet the will not listen to anyone else's opinion or belief if it contradicts there own.

Typical. Nothing is ever a Democrat's fault, it is always the other guy!

In conclusion, my views obviously don't coincide with any political party. I consider myself Republican...but I don't exactly agree with everything they do. This 'email' shows and reinforces stereotypes that make it easy to 'hate' Liberals.

I wonder where I stand here?

1. You have to be against capital punishment but support abortion on
demand.

I am for capital punishment, but generally against abortion. You could say I'm more Pro-contraceptive

2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and Governments
create prosperity.

Each can have the potential to create BOTH, it just depends.

3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans
are more of a threat than Nuclear weapons technology in the hands of
Chinese and North Korean communists.

Guns in the hand of law-abiding citizens are a good thing. Nukes for Iran, NK = bad

4. You have to believe that there was no art before Federal Funding.

LOL, disagree

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by
documented cyclical changes in the earth's climate and more affected by
soccer moms driving SUV's.

I agree with the first statement, but I believe driving an SUV is economic stupidity nowadays.

6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being
homosexual is natural.

Tend to disagree with that statement

7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of
Federal funding.

The AIDS virus is spread by stupidity.

8. You have to believe that the teacher who can't teach fourth Graders
how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.

Fourth graders should not be exposed to sex, they weren't when I was in the 4th grade in the 80's.

9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but Loony
activists who have never been outside of San Francisco do.

Disagree with that.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually
doing something to earn it.

Agree with this, without having self-esteem in the first place, you won't be able to do anything to earn it.

11. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts
of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain
parts of the Constitution.

Both have good and bad sides.

12. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too
high.

Both are too damn high.

13. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more
important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Edison and
Alexander Graham Bell.

Margaret who? Gloria who?

14. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial
quotas and affirmative action are not.

Not being able to pass a standardized test is stupidity. Merit should matter over race, gender, etc.

15. You have to believe that Hillary Clinton is normal and is a very
nice person.

I can't say, I've never met her.

16. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked
anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in
charge.

This could be true since nearly all of the people in charge of those regimes were pure psychopaths, Stalin, Pol Pot.

17. You have to believe conservatives telling the truth belong in jail,
but a liar and a cheat belonged in the White House.

Neither liars or cheats belong in the White House. One can be either regardless of party affiliation.

18. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag queens,
transvestites and bestiality should be constitutionally protected, but
that manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

Both should be protected under the 1st Amendment.

19 You have to believe that illegal Democrat Party funding by the
Chinese Government is somehow in the best interest to the United States.

Uhh I think both parties fund the Chinese, just take a look at our trade deficit with them.

20. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right
wing conspiracy.

Some, but not all of it.

21. You have to believe that it's okay to give Federal workers the day
off on Christmas Day ..........but it's not okay to say "Merry
Christmas."

Both should be OK.

We'll never know if communism can work until we Americans, with our can do attitude make a try at it. Hell, the Russians never made anything work but despotism but I don't think that's a good argument that we should try that.

Apparently, if you are conservative you have to believe that things are either black or white - you are either against us or with us, if you will. Of course that's not true of most conservatives, but these type of grossly over-simplified exaggerations are the exact type of things that Obama wants to take out of the political discourse. Why? Because they are absurd and do nothing to advance us as a country. Hopefully this election will allow intelligent, real and sometimes difficult discussions to take place instead of these absurd ones. Attempts like this copied OP to turn real and nuanced positions into over-simplified jibberish that small minds can repeat over and over will no doubt be brought up by bloggers, posters, voters, and some members of the media. However, I hope the two candidates can remain above it all and bring a few American voters with them to have real discussions.
