Yes, you DO have the right to abdicate your responsibility to elect someone who will have an affect on more people than just YOU!
So, if she thought that McCain was the better candidate, you would have no problem with that?

Face it, you just want to tell everyone how they should be voting. Just as the democrat party made the decision for the voters, you would like to do the same.

btw, I think "W" will go down as one of the best presidents ever. I would vote for him again if I could.

He's too liberal for me. I doubt your prayers will be answered. He spent WAY too much money and ran up too much debt.

They may run around and make campaign promises-but what really changes? According to the dems who were swept into congress in 2006-shouldn't all lobbyists be gone now and shouldn't we also be out of Iraq now too? Repubs are the same- I am just using the dems because that is the most recent election. In the last two presidential elections, I wrote in candidates because I could not vote for Bush, Kerry or Gore. I suppose I could have voted for Bush if I were voting strictly on financial reasons or Gore or Kerry on Pro-choice matters but I did not- I could not do it. There were very important issues that I disagreed with on both dems and repubs and knew any of those voted in would be the same old same old-beholden to special interests and not in Americans interests. It really comes down to neither party has hard working American interests in mind. Both parties-Repubs and Dems do not care about average middle class Americans who are overtaxed and over regulated. Both have their special interests that they answer to and both sell out the American middle class to lobbyists and for votes.

I decided in 2000 that I was done voting for the "lesser of two evils"-so I wrote in candidates both times. The only way that we will ever see real change is if enough Americans say enough is enough and get behind candidates who are not the party favorites-the ones who are considered "longshots" but who hold the American people and American sovereignty first. Unless a viable third party comes along, there will not be real beneficial change by a dem or repub. The powers to be that control both major parties are too beholden to special interests, lobbyists, whatever you want to call them. Just because a candidate claims that he/she does not take $$ from lobbyists, does not mean that they are not beholden to their own group of special interests.

Sadly in 2008, I will be writing in a presidential candidate once again. Thankfully I have some state and federal reps whom still share a majority of my views and who I still feel comfortable voting for.

Very good and true post. I know many people who feel the same way. Unfortunatly politicians are bought by certain groups. So I pick the one that benefits me the most.
