Rice: Obama's Run Shows Black Progress

Many Republicans site that racism is being blown out of proportion by Black Americans -- and then list Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice as Black politicians that demonstrate this. However Ms. Rice is stating the same sentiments that come up as criticisms when coming from the Obamas.

So seriously, my question here is outside of Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice being Black Republicans, why are comments regarding racism "justified" (or ignored) coming from them? Are there not any concerns that our current Secretary of State may feel jaded at times because of her sex or race (and a Secretary of State is a whole heck of a lot powerful than a first lady...well officially at least )

Stating that racism is still a factor in America is not racism, it's an observation of truth. All she is saying is that this country has never seen a black President before and now maybe they are ready for one.

Of course it's a factor. I think anyone who says otherwise is not paying attention or is lying to themselves.

No I think it is not a factor to them in their lives. Take me for example I have a roommate that is black and I am white. I have numerous black friends. It is not a factor im my life. Is it a problem in America yes but some of stay out of it. Furthermore it is not an issue for only America as it is an issue for the entire world to conquer.

I totally agree. However if any of the Obamas were to say what Ms. Rice is quoted as saying, then here comes the criticism saying that they are "bitter" or "stuck in the past". What I am trying to get more insight on is why is it that conservatives love to point out that Black democrats continue to cling to racism as a ridiculous grievance that they are so tired of hearing about. However I do not hear that same criticism (or are they just ignoring) of the Black members of their own party when they discuss the issue. I know, common sense says you will always quickly point out the shortcomings of your enemies; I would just like to hear their reasoning...or even if they have knowledge of this.

I have a lot of respect for rice. she has accomplished a lot in her life. she gets even more respect because she grew up in the segregated south. I have read that she is a republican because the democrats wouldn't let her father vote in the primaries. I have a lot of black people that I look to for inspiration throughout history, but a lot of black people don't agree with me.
