Officials here are already moving to address possible concerns from regulators in the United States and Europe about a government entity investing on the stock exchanges with such large resources.

Wall Street, the flagship of capitalism, has been bailed out by state-backed investors from emerging economies. That has people worried—for good reasons and bad

Will they have to say the pledge when they own the building. Will the boat be allowed to return to port when they own the port?

The selling of American bought to you by the Republican Right of George Bush and Pat Paulson. Remember it was Karl Rove who engineered their victory and his working with McCain should assure 8 more years of foreign takeover. By then the pledge may be in Spanish anyway. Do you speak Spanish?

If George Washington had told Congress to go jump in the lake with their joint resolution asking him to meddle in religion and vetoed the bill that forced the people to contribute to the financial support of the Chaplains to Congress, he, instead of Thomas Jefferson, would be considered the great champion of religious liberty.

Default "A house divided...

The Pledge of Allegiance is an expression of our commonality as Americans. It is not about enforcing uniformity of thought. Rather it reminds us that notwithstanding our disagreements at the end of the day there is more that unites us than divides us. Those who resent open displays of patriotism are more focused on our divisions and that is dangerous for the future of this country. A house divided cannot stand.

So if you eliminate the pledge ...there goes a source of dissention.

"One nation under God" implies that uniformity of religious opinion is desirable, which is the cornerstone of the foundation upon which all religious tyranny is constructed.

"Under God" is a profession of submission to the will of God, made by the majority on behalf of all. It says that the religious principles of the minority are obnoxious or their numbers are small, and lifts the veil of evil at once and exhibits in its naked deformity the satanic doctrine that religious truth is to be tested by numbers, or that the majority has a right to govern the religious opinions of the minority.
