Iraqi PM backs Obama troop exit plan - magazine
Sat Jul 19, 2008 7:23am EDT
BERLIN, July 19 (Reuters) - Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki told a German magazine he supported prospective U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's proposal that U.S. troops should leave Iraq within 16 months.
"U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama talks about 16 months. That, we think, would be the right timeframe for a withdrawal, with the possibility of slight changes."
It is the first time he has backed the withdrawal timetable put forward by Obama, who is visiting Afghanistan and us set to go to Iraq as part of a tour of Europe and the Middle East.
Obama wants the troops out Iraq wants the troops out According to BUsh & McCain the surge worked.
So lets get the troops out.
Why is this so difficult for McCain & Bush to accept.
Bush now has called for a
"TimeHorizon" not to be confused with a Timetable.
That's always been the plan, as conditions on the ground dictate.
We would not have this opportunity if we would have followed Obama's and the dems strategy about the surge. As McCain said, he would have seen a totally different Iraq if we listened to his horrible judgement.
In addition, I would like to actually HEAR Maliki say these things, rather than believing Reuters and their interpretation of what he said in a magazine.

McCain likes to make the argument that he was right on the "surge" but it appears that President Obama was right on Iraq all along. And Maliki knows that Bush is a lame duck and has not power to do anything and that President Obama is who he needs to be dealing with.

We would never have made the mistake of invading Iraq in the first place if we had listened to Obama.

Or 10 term Congressman Ron Paul and others. Obama wasn't the only voice against the war. 33% of Congress voted against giving the President the Authorization for Force.
Well they are, if you are to believe that our brave military men and women have done their job, a fledgling democracy.
And it would be best to have good relationships with our democratic allies.
This should send a message to our democracy and military-men-and-women-loving citizens about who would be the best man to restore our stature and lead us in the world-- Barack Obama.
So, was it worth 4,122 soldiers and the trillions of dollars we're still spending? Nope. Iraq isn't a friend of Israel and will likely accept help from Iran when offered.

Of course,
I was only considering presidential choices who have a likly chance to win.
Hmm..the Iraqi PM supporting Obama's plan for troop withdrawal. This is undoubtedly a slap in the face to Bush and a punch in the gut to McCain.
