Not only did Obama's speech go over big in Germany but according to a Rasmussen Poll (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/55_rate_obama_s_berlin_speech_good_or_excellent_46 _think_europe_should_be_more_like_u_s - broken link) over half of Americans (55%) rate Obama’s historic speech in Berlin yesterday good (29%) or excellent (26%). Even more telling, a full 32% of Republicans rated the speech good or excellent.

Obama is getting a nice bounce from the speech as well having opened a 6% lead on McCain in the Rasmussen tracking Poll (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll - broken link) . Just 4 days ago they were tied. Gallup is showing a similar bounce, Obama now up by 7%.

Looks like the decision to make this trip was another smart move by the Obama campaign.

In a new Rasmussen Reports national survey, 26% grade the speech, delivered before an enthusiastic crowd of more than 200,000, as Excellent. Twenty-nine percent (29%) say it was good. Nearly as many (23%) feel it was only Fair, and 18% rate it as Poor. These results are based upon the 50% of voters who had heard or seen coverage of the speech last night.

Exactly half (50%) acknowledge having read, seen or heard news about the Berlin speech
So only 50% of voters read, saw or heard about the speech? And 41% of those rate it Fair/Poor?

Ok.

All the reports I heard and read said his kissing up to the French and Germans hurt his credability in the USA. Most here don't have much use for the cowardly French....

Way to sweepingly generalize a nation of millions.

I suppose all Americans are obese NASCAR lovers too, right?

55% from that pool rated it good or excellent and that can't be twisted.
