This is really scary.

"The draft rule defines abortion as any procedure or drug that results in the termination of a fertilized egg, even prior to implantation.

"Scientific evidence be damned in Bush World. If this rule was put into place, it would conflate contraception with abortion.

"Once officially in the federal code, the new definition of contraception as abortion inevitably would be used in ways that would limit the access of women to nearly every form of birth control, save for condoms, diaphragms, spermicides cold showers and chastity belts.

"The rule would take precedence over state laws around the country, including in Arizona, that require hospitals to provide emergency contraceptives to rape victims. It would undermine laws requiring insurers, including those that routinely cover Viagra, to also cover contraceptives."

Well, sexism IS part of Fascism.....and bushco has most of the characteristics of Fascism so it's not surprising that they want to turn 50% of the population into breeding cattle....that's what they think of women and just think, SOME women are stupid enough to vote for them!!!!

Now some questions to those who are anti-choice, pro-Fascism, anti-woman rights, :

Do you REALLY think abortions will end if they are made illegal?

Do you truly believe an eleven year old child should have to give birth to HER FATHER'S BABY?

Do you really want your taxes going to take care of unwanted children?

Will you REALLY dance with glee at the misery you will cause?

Are you REALLY ready for the loss of freedom and liberty to escalate.....do you REALLY think it will END with only taking away women's rights????????????

Bush & Co have fought long and hard to bring about a Theocracy in the U.S. The fact that the Religious Right are now influencing HHS is enough to make my blood boil.

IMO their attitudes are well-illustrated in the following mock propaganda posters (I've included links detailing the thought process as well as the history behind the original posters):

Pregnancy as a Punishment for Sex? Women Should Suffer the Consequences of Sex and Sexual Activity (http://atheism.about.com/od/religiousright/ig/Christian-Propaganda-Posters/Poster--Pregnancy--Punishment.htm - broken link)

Wow. This is frightening but doesn't surprise me. Is it part of one of the "executive orders" that has already become law? Ron Paul and/or the good guys in Congress will have a LOT TO UNDO after the election. Hopefully there will be a lot more "good guys"

That's a laugh!!!

It is the liberal democrats who want to bring back the so-called Fairness Doctrine that REQUIRES radio stations to air content that is deemed "acceptable".

It is the liberal democrats who have proposed nationalizing oil refineries, and oil companies themselves, so that they can be brought under government control.

It is the liberal democrats that gave us the reality of "hate crimes"; punishment not only for a crime but for the reasons the perpurtrator had for committing the crime. In other words: Thoughtcrime.

It is the liberal democrats that have made it illegal in many states for business owners to allow smoking in their establishments which completely flies in the face of personal property rights.

It is the liberal democrats that have worked tirelessly to deny Americans their Constitutional right to bear arms (a right that actually is in the Constitution) in an effort to make us all totally dependent on the government for the protection of our own lives and families.

It is the liberal democrats who have refused to even allow a vote or debate on the confirmation of federal judges, and who today refuse to even allow a debate on drilling.

Yet you have the audacity to say that it is Bush and conservatives (not one and the same) who are fascists because we don't approve of the legal murder of innocent babies?

Do you even know what the term fascism means?

Of course not. Just as murder, rape, arson, and thievery haven't stopped because those things are illegal.
These things are illegal because they are wrong and hurt the innocent, not because society expects that making them illegal will mean that they will never happen. It is childish to think otherwise.

Enough with the hyperbole. There are over 4000 legally performed abortions in the United States everyday. Do you honestly believe that anywhere near a significant number of these are performed on eleven year old girls made pregnant by her father?

What exactly is an unwanted child? There are countless numbers of people in this country who are on waiting lists for years for the chance to adopt a child. The biological parents, whose own actions created the child, may be too wrapped up in themselves to care for their own child but there are millions of people who want to have a child yet cannot.

Besides, I would rather have my taxes go towards paying for an "unwanted" child than towards paying for his or her murder.

When did you stop beating your wife?

Oh, I'm sorry, that is a ridiculous loaded question isn't it?

You mean the loss of freedom and liberty to murder an "unwanted" child, who is nothing more than a stupid mistake, because his or her life will only be an inconvenience to yours?

Did I miss something? Was there some law passed that said that women have to have sex and get pregnant?
The last time I checked people have the right to have sex, or not to have sex, if they so choose.
I guess you are just lamenting the fact that there is a little thing called responsibility for one's actions. I see.

"Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble."
~William Shakespeare, Macbeth, Act IV, Scene I.

Abortion is a "wedge" issue for Democrats and a "unifying" issue for Republicans; however, if Roe v. Wade were overturned, the abortion issue would, politically speaking, have the opposite effect. Democrats would become united in their efforts to push for state legislation preserving a woman’s right to have an abortion; while evangelical Christians would demand a complete ban on abortion, driving moderate conservatives from the Republican party, resulting in the loss of political power. (Indeed, we have already seen this with the previous ban on abortion that was rejected by South Dakota voters in 2006, and backfired on its Republican proponents.) Perhaps the powers that be would really rather keep the wedge issues broiling to stir up dissension and division among the voters.

All your examples are slanted and false and even if they weren't then you AGREE with me that America is losing freedom, liberty, and rights

Yes, I'm much more aware of what it is than you...and I care.

Most Americans don't consider abortion a crime. I don't so your comparison is void.

I agree but you think it's fine. And think of all those CHRISTIAN women ...where will they go to get rid of that unwanted baby...and YES there ARE many UNWANTED children in this country that YOU pay for with your taxes...and you know how you repubs HATE helping anyone....

NO, it isn't ridiculous. Self-righteous prigs like you LOVE to see women suffer the and PAY for having the audacity to have sex ....just like MEN do.
When do you expect MEN to quit having sex and raping???

Don't vote for McCain if you believe abortion should be a protected right of American on the state or federal level.

Here is a little story to illustrate for the folks who think it should be up to the states to allow or forbid abortion.

California passed a law repealing the statute of limitations in child molest cases.

So new kinds of cases were prosecuted, where the child molestation had happenned long ago and the victims and witnesses were all grown up.

Child molesters were convicted. Then child molesters who had been convicted appealed their convictions to the California Supreme Court. The Court ruled that the laws repealing the statute of limitations were constitutional. They upheld the law.

My case came along in the middle of the appeal. I filed the report with the police, step one. I had enough evidence to seal the case. The police got a warrant for a pretext call to the perp and we got him on tape explaining why he commited the crimes and how he felt about it. At that point, persons already thusly convicted in California were appealing their convictions. So my case was not prosecuted, because the law was being reviewed by the Supreme Court of California, and moving forward would be a waste of time and money if it was ruled unconstitutional.

The State ruled the law Constitutional, I contacted the prosecutor, and we moved forward. Full trial, ending with a guilty plea. Convicted.

Well, another convicted child molester in California appealed HIS conviction to the US Supreme Court in Stogner v. California. The Supreme Court of the United States reviewed the case, and found that California's law repealing the statute of limitations in cases involving child molestation was Unconstitutional. So California's law was struck down, all the persons convicted under that law were "unconvicted," set free, and no longer required to be monitored in any way as sex offenders.

Get the picture?

The Supreme Court of the United States of America determines by their rulings whether the laws of the states are Constitutional or not.
