here is the difference between Democrat Christians and Republican Christians.
Democrat Christians are tolerant of other religions, they don't take the bible so extremely literally, they keep religion private, they don't try to use government to spread religion. In other words, they are moderate, live by it, but not 'kill' for it.
Republican Christians on the other hand want to use government to spread religion, they want to force its values on others. They tout it at every turn yet break it when is suits them, they pick and choose it to justify racism and bigotry. In other words, they are nutjobs, and in fellow nutjob Palin's words: "Iraq is a task from God".

It's easy to stir this trouble up because most people in those rural areas may also have issues with a black person running for prez. That's what makes this an "issue" for Republicans.

By the way, Palin lives in a rural area and she shoots animals out of a helicopter and wears her religion on her sleeve. Is she mad that she represents what Obama said?

yes, and it's just hard to imagine why anyone with an IQ larger than their shoe size would want that white trash in the White House.

when did he say Whites?

Quote:
“Our challenge is to get people persuaded that we can make progress when there’s not evidence of that in their daily lives,” he said. “You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are going to regenerate and they have not.

“And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

I am not sure if people have difficulty with comprehension or if they just don't like hearing the truth. In any event, I don't see anything that is malicious or inaccurate with Obama's statement.

BULL CRAP

Obama's problem isn't skin color, it is that he is an albino version of Al Gore/ Howard Dean / John Kerry. A moderate Democrat would be impossible to beat, but the Dims keep picking candidates who are to the left of their own base on all the social issues

If Bush didn't have a 30% approval, Condi Rice would have easily been the Repub nom
