Yes, that's exactly how I feel! Thanks for putting it so succintly.

Why do McCain supporters have to lie about it and say she memorized the whole thing and barely used the teleprompter ? She's all fluff and no substance, that's why she doesn't take questions from reporters.
I am not taking a side on the did she or didn't she debate, but memorizing a speech is really not a big deal, especially for someone well versed in the art of public speaking. Both sides of this argument are overstating their case IMO.

Well I absolutely agree. The questions don't have to be asked by journalists. I never said they had to be. The point is just to answer questions off the cuff.

I think there would be a a run on unemployed politicians if mandated though lol. I would of loved to see what the political scene was like in say, Lincolns day. Real debate, no frills...what a different world.

There are Hollywood stars who would want to have the teleprompter guy KILLED if that ever happened to them. He wouldn't work again in a hurry.
"A top convention planner confirms this morning that there were no major problems."

Someone might be "just looking on," yes. But if that observer notes that the speaker says exactly what was just on the screen, it's safe to assume the teleprompter is working correctly.

Seriously though, is this a critical issue?
