Deception on infant protection bill haunts Obama:

New audio reveals that while arguing against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act (BAIPA) in the Illinois Senate in 2002, state lawmaker Obama suggested two doctors tending to a baby who survived a botched abortion would be too much of a burden to the child's mother.

"And that essentially adding an additional doctor -- who then has to be called in an emergency situation to come in and make these assessments -- is really designed simply to burden the original decision of the woman and the physician to induce labor and perform an abortion," he stated.

Obama has claimed that he opposed the Illinois infant protection bill because it threatened Roe v. Wade and that he would have supported it if it had included language identical to the federal bill. However, the bill did contain language identical to the federal measure -- and Obama still opposed it.

If you read the transcripts from the Senate floor, which are available on line, you can see his exact reasoning for voting "present". It isn't as simplistic as you make it out to be.

"Deception"??? Out here in non-cosmopolitan America we call that LYING! That's more like what Obama did.

Child comes out of the womb alive after a botched abortion. Kill or not kill? Obama says "kill".

You can reason everything if you want to. In fact, you can reason and justify stealing, lying, cheating, deceiving, etc. Just ask Bill Clinton.

Don't call other people deceptive or liars if you are doing the same thing yourself.

Obama's words can be read at http://www.ilga.gov/senate/transcrip...2/ST033001.pdf , which is a PDF document from the Illinois senate. Pages 85 - 87.

I know it isn't as easy to read an original source yourself than to let someone else interpret it for you, but it is very clear from the transcript that Obama voted present because he agreed with the basic idea of the law but he thought that the way it was written it was unconstitutional.

Yes but the issue is that he lied about it. As he has lied about being a muslim. The lying is the problem.
The man is lying and here is proof. All of the bills fed. and state as well as his words on the senate floor. He never allowed the bill in which he sat on a committe that oversaw the bill to the floor for a vote. Of course after he left the Illinois senate for the US senate the bill went to the floor and passed 52-0. Now CNN, The Washington Post, The NY Sun, The National Review and Fox have all run with the story that Obama has admitted lying on the issue.

Not only did the bill contain the exact provision from the federal bill, but Mr. Obama voted in favor of adding it as an amendment. After the state bill was changed to be almost identical to the unanimously passed federal law, Mr. Obama voted against it. Mr. Obama's camp has shifted explanations this week, now claiming that the Democrat merely wanted a provision in the bill clarifying that it would not impact existing state laws. Yet as several pro-life activists have noted, Mr. Obama was the chairman of the legislature's health committee when the bill came up again in 2003 and easily could have offered such an amendment. He didn't.

There were 2 bills before the IL State Legislature.

Bill #1: That bill actually would restrict some types of partial-birth abortions in IL and Obama and his cohorts of liberals in the IL Legislature (which is probably 70% very liberal) voted it down.

Oh a side note: aside from judges creating laws, WHERE does it say in the US Constitution that abortion is a "right"??

Bill #2: This bill was EXACTLY THE SAME as the Federal version of the Born Alive Protection Act, which Obama lied to people and said he'd supported it.

I hate to bring it up again, but Obama LIED and was the ONLY IL State Senator to oppose this bill and Obama conveniently killed this bill in his Committee.

We can go down the list of Obama's lies and compare them with Bush's "lies" and you'd clearly see the trial lawyer, not the baseball team owner lies more. But he is a LAWYER, what'd expect.

On the issue of life vs. death, Obama should be known as "Barack The Baby Killer". His name should be next to "Tiller, the Baby Killer" in the liberal pro-abortion group's Book of Favorites.
