And what people seem to completely overlook is that the oil, while taken from the U.S., is FREE MARKET OIL that will, in all probability NOT go to the U.S. Almost all the oil now taken from Alaska goes to Japan.
give me a break. you were a teacher yes? without the "oil companies" you are unemployed. the tax revenue taken in from exxon alone is enough to finance the precious department of education.

This poor soul who wrote the above quote can't cite one Government expert or industry expert that claim that drilling in off limit US areas will do anything significant to the price of fuel.
On the other hand I could list scores of experts and Government reports saying it would do little of anything.
But would that stop him from believing the lies and spreading his bullsht?
No way......... Zombie lies go on and on.
As one zombie to another if you unplug your nose and look around you just might reevaluate your position. Simple economics 101, if you have more than one source to get anything that creates competition witch brings down the price and increases service. Ergo monopolies are bad competition good. Do get it now!!!
Too Late!!!!!!
Government schools run by inadequate union teachers already did!!!
Drilling now helps to lower our cost of fuel and when the wells come on line will keep are money in America in stead of going some where else. Funny countries that hate us the most love our money, technology and also like to vacation as well as shop here.
Government schools, as well as many other things run by government, indeed has ruined our country. Yet they want even more of this. It's just depressing.

Our country is not ruined, with all its faults its still the best country in the world and if you feel it isn't then don't let the door hit you on the way out.
If you say the call to drill is a GOP gimmick, you need to call the cry for conservation a Democratic gimmick too. We need to increase supply (drill responsibly) and decrease demand (conserve). I think both sides are right and wrong on emphasizing only 1 part of the equation. That is why in this case, Friedman, who I think is a way better-than-average commentator, is wrong.
