I posted this reply in another thread but no one answered me so I posted this in a new thread to ask the question again.

I am a open minded AMERICAN who is currently planning on voting for Obama but before i do that I would like to know what McCain will do for the middle class and the poor?
Please lets not make this A Obama is a terrorist,McCain is a racist argument.
I would really like to know "facts" and "issues" that McCain has discussed that can sway my vote towards him.

Keeping taxes low keeps people working and creates jobs.

I'm wondering that also. I also have not heard from the McCain camp as to what they intend to do on anything. Anyone? I hear crickets....

How? Create jobs how? Lower taxes for me? I don't make over a million a year. How? How are we going to deal with the biggest federal deficit in history?

Obama will lower taxes on people making less than $250,000/year. And raise taxes on everybody making over that. "Keeping taxes low" for the wealthy--i.e., corporate welfare--has not resulted in more jobs or better wages, or lowered the price of oil. They still outsourced American jobs, and the oil companies have made the largest profits this past year in American history. Warren Buffett thinks Obama's plan is not hard enough on the wealthy, that he should tax them even more. You know, Warren Buffett--richest capitalist in the world? the one who is apparently uninformed about Obama's "Marxist" and "extremist" tendencies?

clongirl: All you will ever hear from the McCain/Palin campaign is jingoistic nonsense. They don't have a plan. Unless, of course, you count the policies of the last 8 years.

McCain will keep taxes lower; Obama will raise them. Like Yoopercat said, that will allow small businesses to stay in business and people to keep working. Social programs don't help anyone.

McCain has a military background and has sacrified for his country. He knows how to defend and protect our country. I don't think Obama has a clue. McCain will be a Commander In Chief that the troops respect. Obama, not so much. McCain knows that to just pull out of Iraq would be foolish. He doesn't want us to fight terrorist on our own soil. I think Obama doesn't understand this; he wants to pull out and will risk our national security.

We need to be less dependent on foreign oil. McCain wants to drill in Alaska so we can provide some of our own energny needs plus explore other options.

Neither candidate has a satisfactory stance, to me, on illegal immigration. McCain now says we will build a wall to keep illegal immigrants out, but what about the ones who are already here who are putting a burden on our health care system, our schools and our taxpayers?

luzianne: I'm sorry, but you are simply flat-out wrong about the tax issue.

Lots of people "sacrifice" for their country, that doesn't make them qualified to be President. In fact, most current American troops support Obama, and not McCain. Precisely because they know McCain, in fact, doesn't have a clue.

Being less dependent on foreign oil means alternative energy, not more drilling. There isn't enough oil in Alaska to satisfy Alaska's needs, much less the energy needs of the country.

Your reasons for supporting McCain are based entirely on generalizations--"sacrifice" and "respect" are important, but they won't heal a country or a land--and are not supported by the facts.

No, YOU are flat out wrong about the tax issue; not me.

I don't think most troops DO support Obama; where is your proof of that? Not what I have seen. And I don't think belittling McCain's sacrifice is going to help you or obama any.

More drilling will definitely help and the Republicans also are looking at alternative sources. There IS enough oil to make a difference.

Your reasons for supporting Obama are based on generalizations and in fact Obama's whole campaign is based on generalizations and ideas stolen from JFK. He talks but there is nothing behind it.

We cannot afford to elect a socialist, and that is exactly what Obama is. You better look again at the tax issue; you are WRONG.

Obama will raise taxes for people over $250,000. Anyone who says otherwise is outright lying.
