"At the insistence of the McCain campaign, the Oct. 2 debate between the Republican nominee for vice president, Gov. Sarah Palin, and her Democratic rival, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., will have shorter question-and-answer segments than those for the presidential nominees, the advisers said."

"There will also be much less opportunity for free-wheeling, direct exchanges between the running mates."

"McCain advisers said they had been concerned that a loose format could leave Ms. Palin, a relatively inexperienced debater, at a disadvantage and largely on the defensive."

Does this really seem fair? It is in the campaign's interests to have debates structured to portray their candidates in the best light; however, is it in the best interest of the Citizens who will view the Debates to gather information to cast an Informed Vote?

I think it is unfair they make her debate at all.

How can they expect that when she is not an experienced debater?

As I said in the other thread. This shouldn't even be called a "debate" anymore. They should just call it a Q & A session.

Of course it isn't fair to the voters that the debate format has been dumbed down to accommodate Palin's intellectual shortcomings.

VP debates are not like the party nomination debates or the presidential nomination debates. Never have been.

It gives both of them a fair chance to say the things they want. The only people who think it is rigged are those who want to see Biden attacking Palin non stop and frustrating her. He is clearly more experienced in open debate. Nobody would question that. I think it is a fair format because if Biden is smart, all he has to do is give better and more insightful answers than Palin and he wins. Seems some people are worried he can't do that.

Maybe he can remind us of FDR's 1929 presidential address on our televisions. Is that footage on youtube? I'm sure someone who was watching took the time to jump on their computer and upload it so people who didn't catch it could turn it on their computers the following morning and understand FDR's position on the markets.

Her hair will be down covering the earpiece that they will be feeding her answers through. Just you wait and see.

It's only rigged if one candidate has to follow a different set of rules than the other. This is a nonsensical post and question.

Hmm...this is an interesting and almost unbiased way of looking at it.

Thanks for being honest.

Is it? Then why would the campaign endeavor to change the format? Why bother at all?
