talk is cheap with both candidates. the easiest way to see where they have stood on the issues is to look at their records and vote for the candidate who mirrors your own values.

Exactly. I asked him to to cite some evidence that Obama says he "has all the answers" and claims he will "fix everthing" .....(oh and here's the best part)...McCain doesn't do this....LOL

The thread starter can't do it.

Hardly, the myth of John McCain the maverick is rather new dating back no further than the 2000 election when the now much maligned "MSM" anointed him as such.

For the greater part of McCain's career he has been anything but. His only real claim to maverickness came with his promotion of McCain-Feingold. When it come to real Republican mavericks the Chuck Hagels, the Jim Jeffords, and the Ron Pauls.

McCain's maverick rep is as much a media creation as anything Obama is accused of.

One last parting point. Mavericks and individuals who brag about not winning Mr. Congeniality Contest don't strike me as the kinds of people who garner a great deal of success in arenas where collegial cordiality is a prerequisite for getting things done.

The US Congress is comprised of 535 separate egos, very large egos, you don't get much done being the bull in the china shop as McCain's efforts on behalf of the administration's bailout proposal amply demonstrated.
