Do you ever get the feeling that some people on the forum were people who were beaten by Obama in an election.....or didn't have their "warm feelings' toward him returned?

Some folks love their country like a four-year old loves his mother. Everything she says or does is both right and wonderful. And anyone who doesn't agree with them is a hateful enemy, even if they're a fellow countryman.

Other folks love their coutry like a man loves his wife. They're proud of what she does well and try to get her to improve those things she struggles with.

People from the first group have no grasp of people in the second group.

There are a number of ways by which the federal government can meet its responsibilities to aid economic growth. We can and must improve American education and technical training. We can and must expand civilian research and technology. One of the great bottlenecks for this country's economic growth in this decade will be the shortages of doctorates in mathematics, engineering, and physics — a serious shortage with a great demand and an undersupply of highly trained manpower. We can and must step up the development of our natural resources.

But the most direct and significant kind of federal action aiding economic growth is to make possible an increase in private consumption and investment demand — to cut the fetters which hold back private spending. In the past, this could be done in part by the increased use of credit and monetary tools, but our balance of payments situation today places limits on our use of those tools for expansion. It could also be done by increasing federal expenditures more rapidly than necessary, but such a course would soon demoralize both the government and our economy. If government is to retain the confidence of the people, it must not spend more than can be justified on grounds of national need or spent with maximum efficiency. And I shall say more on this in a moment.

The final and best means of strengthening demand among consumers and business is to reduce the burden on private income and the deterrents to private initiative which are imposed by our present tax system — and this administration pledged itself last summer to an across-the-board, top-to-bottom cut in personal and corporate income taxes to be enacted and become effective in 1963.

a lovely speech!

some people need a candidate's validation to make them feel special. they are the ones that they have been waiting for.

I am a computer analyst, and it took me a year and a half to get the job I now have. My company is a fortune 250 company, and will pay for 90% of graduate school. I called, emailed and persisted for a very long time to get this job so I would be able to afford to go to graduate school and make something out of my life. When I finally graduate with a master's degree, Why should my hard earned money automatically go to help those who have not earned it? I agree we should help those in need, and I give very willingly to charity, but such redistribution of wealth is a socialist concept. A free market society is not compatible with this policy.

Universal health care. Why is it the government's job to provide me with health care?

I personally feel the government needs to be much smaller, and have much less control over American citizens. Obama's policies do not align with this idea.

On the other hand, I do not support McCain either, and I could give you a laundry list of things I find wrong with him. I believe the government's job is to support the basic rights of the citizens, but nothing more. (I have never voted for a democrat or republican in an election, and doubt I will in this election as well.)

I feel a moral imperative for a lot of what Obama is calling for. There is a huge different between if something is right morally and if it should be right legally.

Yeah, I guess maybe I shouldn't even try.

He loves it enough to vote for the bailout of corporations that donate lots of money to his campaign. Stop will the silliness. You get what you deserve.

Obama loves this country so much that for 20 years he sat in church while Rev. Wright denounced America. He loves this country so much that he has no problem befriending a man whose stated goal was the destruction of the US.

Obama does not love America. he doesn't even like it. He sees this solely as an opportunity to remake the country according to his far left beliefs.
