Quote:
The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility, but the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to war. — Sidney J. Harris
Quote:
Patriotism is a lively sense of collective responsibility. Nationalism is a silly **** crowing on its own dunghill and calling for larger spurs and brighter beaks. — Richard Aldington
It should be evident to anyone who knows the difference between patriotism and nationalism that Barack Obama is the only choice for true patriots. He loves this country so much that he is willing to help perfect it and implore us all to ask what we can do for our country. The blind flag-waving nationalists who march behind their leaders no matter what would be the same ones guarding the concentration camps in Germany if they had been alive during that period. It is a pathology that has been with us throughout the ages.

sure...we should be proud of someone who is willing to take all personal responsibilty away from the citizen. After all, who wants to actually try to make their own life better when you can sit back and let the government do everything for you?

Socialism does not 'help perfect' our country.

give me a break

Nobody mentioned 'socialism' - I think you have your -isms all jumbled up.

Have you read Obama's policy statements? Have you studied his voting record? or are you only forming your opinions based on what slips through the media to the public?

Oh, dear Lord, try and sell this stuff to someone who hasn't attempted to work with Obama in the state legislature on school funding issues, knows his voting record - or lack of a voting record (present is your friend, Barack) and ability to use the "I pushed the wrong button" excuse when he didn't want to take an unpopular stand. This guy has been running for president and giving pretty speeches for the past two years. What a sham.
