More and more, Senator Obama is being touted as the candidiate who will get us out of this recession. I've read his speeches and comments lately regarding our crisis, but can't find anything SPECIFIC about what moves he will do. Does anyone have links to what exactly he will do?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say...

-Ensure BASEL II roll out is effectively regulated and goes smoothly

-Convince the treasury to extend the Stock Injection option to the Paulson plan (I overheard it may be written in the bill as an option)

-My personal fav would be to outlaw 'Lobbyism' and convict those caught doing it

Maybe most importantly, reassure the global markets who are in total meltdown, particularly in Europe. As much as FUD effects all exchanges, diplomacy may go a long way... something the other party doesn't excel at... much better at making enemies in fact.

I wonder what McCain's 'specific plan' is? I bet it has something to do with: What would a maverick do?

He'll tax the crap out of the rich and give the middle class a tax break equal to about 20 dollars a week. Wow, what a plan for success.

He'll raise taxes on the "rich." (Not sure how this helps the economy though...)

He'll lower taxes on the "middle class." (Although Bush was widely criticized for cutting taxes, it seems to be a good idea when Obama proposes it...)

He'll increase taxes on dividends. (That'll make people want to put more money in the stock market. After all, it's fun to pay taxes!)

He'll "close the loopholes" in the corporate tax code to effectively raise the corporate tax rate. (Don't worry, I'm sure increased costs won't cause businesses to lay off, outsource, cut back hours, etc. Business always benefit from increased costs, right?)

What a great time to vote Libertarian!

Obama doesn't have a clue what he will do with the economy or anything else. His goal is to be president. He hasn't thought past that.

Sadly, that sounds more effective than what is being done now. Efficacy is not this administration's strong suit.

I agree on the last part, but what makes you think increased (i.e. frankly, warranted) costs to large caps would be any worse than now. They already lay off, outsource, cut back hours, etc. GM has been in a state of disarray for years, but the news today would like you to think their woes are caused by what is happening now. Maybe the fat cats on top cutting off all the oxygen to the bottom should be on a tighter leash (instead of us!).

What will Obama do for the economy?

He won't ignore it

"It's a dangerous road, but we have no choice," a top McCain strategist told the Daily News. "If we keep talking about the economic crisis, we're going to lose."
