I do agree that there are some scary things going on in world markets. I'm not sure of how strong the ties are with the US market, but it sure seems like when the US markets slide the world markets plummet.
Sorry Mate, I was watching BBC World News, I don't get CNN on my cable.. Alas.. And pretty much they are saying the US is the catalyst for a lot of the downturn... and NY and London financial markets are pretty tied. Also saying the UK is probably in recession already and Iceland near bankrupt.. they are going to Russia for a loan.

I'll believe it when I see it. I agree with Dick Morris that this will become a referedom on Obama over the coming weeks... I remember in 2004 Kerry had just as much enthusiasm going for him at this point, until people voted him down by 3.6 million votes because they realized the only alternative to the 'anti-Bush' was a douche bag. Obama is not one of these, but you have to remember he is a lot more extreme than most Americans.... Minorities and left winger hippies and Hollywood types alone can't vote this guy into office, it will take a lot of soccer moms and NASCAR dads as well...

Nope, Kerry was way behind in the polls at this point. It's a referendum on the the economy right now, and nothing more.

RealClear Politics - Polls

Note the red line way above the blue one after September. Bush was way ahead at this point in 2004... but Obama is much farther ahead than Bush was.

The true winner ... the American Socialist Party without even nominating a candidate this year.

Not really, the administration that nationalized the banks, investment houses, insurance companies, and has secured $700bn to socialize some more businesses is FINALLY being voted out of office. How does this help the socialist party? Seems like their days are numbered.

There are no real winners. The American people have lost too much.

I can't imagine wanting this job, since it's going to be the roughest road ahead any president could face.

I wonder what went through the minds of Obama and McCain the day Lehman Brothers crumbled, then seeing the Dow fall 5,000 points and wondering what went wrong after the bailout was passed. To me seeing the market today was like when I had a root canal (that cost me over $1,000) and my tooth still had to be pulled.

I followed that race very closely since I wanted to see Bush lose. Really.....Kerry for sure did NOT have as much enthusiasm or likability that Obama has right now and Kerry in the last 2 months at least in that election, never lead Bush in any of the major polls.
Since you seem to struggle with decent points often, I can help. Dukakis lead Bush by 17 points in 8/88. While that is still not October, you have to go back that far to see a candidate that came back to win and be as far down as McCain is.
Anyway, god forbid, McCain could still win since you have voter purging and Diebold to make you and him happy.
