From Politico.com

Quote:
After days of attempts to persuade voters that Obama's ties to '60s radical Bill Ayers are a crucial character issue, McCain didn't mention Ayers' name during the 90 minutes of Tuesday's forum. His top aides suggested afterward that, going forward, the candidate wouldn't focus on the former domestic terrorist nor invoke the name of Obama's controversial pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
The fact that Ayers' name never came up in the debate was surprising. This suggests that the McCain campaign's internal polling on how the Ayers stuff is playing doesn't look good. It may make the right wing happy but normal Americans want to hear about issues, namely the economy. That said there's still Palin and the independent groups ready to spout half truths and lies in typical Republican fashion.

Mccain won't mention wrights name again for to do so invites obama to talk about palins pastor. This is clearly the case of two negative preachers cancelling each other out

That was McCain's way of concedeing the election. He knows he can't win so he'll let Palin do the mud slinging. He's got nothing left but to shore up his image after he goes back to being a Senator.

As someone said the other day, camp McCain doesn't seem to have a STRATEGY, they have a series of TACTICS, they keep throwing mud against the wall hoping something will stick, but so far nothing has.

I think that sums it up. They spent 1/2 the year planning on running against Hillary, probably already had the ads written and 1/2 of them filmed. Then all of a sudden Obama wins and they have to change their game. Like any quarterback can tell you sometimes "audibles" work, but you can't go the entire game on them.

If they drop "Ayers" I'm pretty sure we'll start seeing more "code" for "different", "unAmerican", "elite", "unpatriotic", "Harvard" etc. The problem is that they've tried all of those with NO EFFECT. Which only leaves them ONE, and we know which one that is, and that they're not ashamed to use it. But I sincerely think and hope that this time it'll blow up in their faces.

Palin is still shouting "Ayers!" in Florida today, and getting correct "BOOOO!"s back.

Like dog training.

If there is guilt by association, the following report from BBC should open up a stinky can of worms for McCain-Bush team:

Source: BBC NEWS | South Asia | Karzai's brother 'met ex-Taleban'
The Afghan president's brother sat with former Taleban leaders at a religious meal hosted by the Saudi King Abdullah last month, the BBC has learnt.

hmmmm, did you hear issues being discussed last night? I sure didn't. have they even brought up illegal immigration or are they trying to put that on the back burner so they can pass an amnesty bill?

Uh . . . it was a townhall meeting; the audience determined the questions. It would have been inappropriate for either candidate to bring up illegal immigration, since no one raised a question about it.

I can't believe no one is asking about it.
