OUIS, Missouri (AFP) – When Barack Obama's campaign bus made a swing through Missouri in July, the unlikeliest of supporters were waiting for him -- or rather two of them, holding the banner: "Rednecks for Obama."

In the last 10-12 years, Republicans have engaged in culture wars to get this segment. Now, with the economy impacting everyone negatively, people of all neck colors are realising that they need to vote on things more important than god/guns/gays.

Where does the term 'red neck' come from, seriously? I'm sincerely curious.
I believe it originally described someone who worked outside and got a sunburned neck.
