I was just wondering in light of all the turmoil going on: How can a reasoned Presidential election be held during the midst of an economic/financial disaster?

Millions of Americans have been sickened and some overwhelmed by the precipitous and ongoing collapse of their retirement savings plans coupled with the drop in value of their homes.

A reasoned campaign can certainly be waged, but only if both sides actually have ideas on how to fix things. If one side is short of ideas, all they can do is try to make the voters afraid of the other guy.

The Associated Press: Bush signs order to ease switch to next president

He's already signed the transition statement. He wants to go home, like yesterday.

No, I am not Bush's front man. Only astounded by all of these earthquaking events leading up to the November 4 election. I have never previously voted in an atmosphere of angry mob hysteria.

And you think that when you go to vote on November 4, and stand in an orderly line with people who will then peacefully produce their identification, and then patiently wait for a voting booth to open up, that you will be voting in an atmosphere of angry mob hysteria?

I know one thing: it won't be a Greenspan mood of *irrational exuberance* over unduly escalated asset values.

Well, because life still goes on... and even though economic issues are important our government still has to function. We can't just stop what we're doing and allow Wall St. to take center stage over everything else, we have to move on to a new era of our Executive Branch - which may help (or make things worse).
