I just don't see why, even with early voting, which 10 to 15 states don't allow, that we cannot do this in the US.
With anything from weather to computers breaking down, why do we have it set just on one day, with no back up day if anything goes wrong?
Why not have an election weekend? You can have it Friday thru Sunday or Thursday thru Saturday if those that don't want to do anything like that on a Sunday have concerns.
What do you all think? I don't see any real reason why this can't be done.
There are many great US traditions worth preserving, but voting on a Tuesday when in many parts of the country the weather has started to become inclement is not one of them.
Most civilized countries in the world usually hold elections in the spring on a Sunday or over two days such as Sunday/Monday.
The US system gives the impression of being designed to discourage voter participation.
If one cares enough about the "leaders" who are going to be put in the cat-bird seat, one will find the way to vote, whether a designated Tuesday, an absentee ballot, or early voting. TX early voting began on Friday, 10/18/8. If that isn't enough time, or enough options, well I guess the one is SOL.

I totally agree with this. I see no problem in using a set span of days, where voters have to vote no later than a given time on a given day ... and maybe make that day a Saturday.
Where is the logic in early voting at all? For all that occurs, there could be a crisis in the few days before an election which would change my vote.
I, for one, am voting ON Election Day.
Too bad no one seems to think about the concept I mention....
