I used to be under the false impression that the Republican Party was represented by law abiding, middle class suburban families. Oh, was I wrong. It's the dirt poor small towners and ruralites, and the corporate beourgeoisie.
And the reason why Southern states have been able to grow automotive manufacturing jobs is because they have the same workforce in their rural areas as third world countries (cheap, trainable, low skill).
2/3 of tax revenue provided to the federal government comes from blue states. 85% of venture capitalists and entrepreneurs are in blue states. hmm... yup blue state people are funding this country, oh wait.. ruining it..

If we could get a say by how much tax we pay then this would truly be Nirvana!
The USA is a victim of its own success. Why do you think jobs are moving overseas? Less prosperous, less developed areas are cheaper . . . not necessarily better places to live.
So let's raise taxes and see where that gets us....

I know. More commerce travels over the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit every year than all the trade between the U.S. and Japan ($115 Billion), and the equivalent of about 5 red states. Yes, we blue states just take and take from this great free country.
The blue states are victims of their own success, and have become too expensive and crowded. Thus people and jobs are moving to the historically underachieving areas because labor and land costs are low due to years of stagnation. It all equalizes over time. I would hardly call California unsuccessful . . . just too successful.
They are victims of politicians raising their taxes so much that businesses ran for the hills. Also, you can't call Texas, Florida, and Arizona, the three largest recipients of northern refugees, 'historic underachievers'. You might be able to make the 'despot' argument about Alabama, Mississippi, and maybe the Carolinas but not FL, TX and AZ...

State next to bottom nationally in per-pupil spending, report says | www.azstarnet.com ® (http://www.azstarnet.com/metro/219900 - broken link)
Arizona ranks worst in the nation when it comes to education funding, according to a new report.
Only Utah spends less per student, according to Quality Counts 2008, an annual education report by Education Week, a non-profit organization based on the East Coast. But when other economic variables are considered, the study concludes Arizona is worst in the nation. The effects are clear, the report says, with Arizona ranked near the bottom for student chance of success, K-12 achievement, teacher pay and school finance.
Florida's high-school graduation rate ranks dead last in the nation, according to a conservative research group challenging the state's increasingly rosy figures.
