Among the growing list of Republicans "jumping ship" is Conservative columnist Patrick Ruffini, who along with others, has been arguing that the RNC needs to give up on McCain and try to save Republican house and senate seats, and that "McCain should start explicitly making the argument for divided government, with him as the only hope of preserving it." That is, Ruffini wants to sacrifice McCain to save congressional Republicans.

And what's the latest Republican strategy?
GOP raises specter of Dems in total control

Stick a fork in it, even the GOP knows that McCain's done.
