Political Punch

Quote:
The ad refers to a 2003 incident when a Wilmette, Ill., restaurateur named Hale DeMar shot and wounded a burglar who broke into his house. DeMar was prosecuted by the town of Wilmette, which had, at the time, a ban on the possession of handguns, so some Illinois lawmakers introduced legislation to offer legal protections to individuals who use firearms in self-defense. The bill passed the Illinois state House by a vote of 86-25, and the Illinois state Senate -- where Obama voted against it -- by a vote of 39-20.
He has done a really good job of hiding his extremism on gun rights. Good for the NRA for hitting him hard.

What's the bill number, sanrene? I'd like to look up that bill. Since the neo-cons usually leave out pertinent information in their fear-mongering posts, it's always a good idea to get the facts from the source.

Well, there are plenty of people stupid enough to vote against someone based solely on the "DONT TAKE MAH GUN AWAY" issue, so this may have some traction to bring him down to only be 7 points ahead of McCain

I agree that it is usually not a good idea to vote based on one issue, but you shouldnt call someone dumb...its a basic constitutional right that is being taken away, overall that is an important concept to some. I dont own a gun, but I find the gun ownership issue to be important because of its constitutional relationship. If someone is willing to remove one constitutional right (depending on how one interprets the constitution) then it worries me that they may be compelled to do the same with other rights.

Tyical liberal mentality - expecting others to do the work for you. You have fingers and somewhat of a brain - look it up yourself.
