"You're not real" seems to be the new strategy. In the past few days I've been told that I'm not a real American, I'm not a real Virginian, and I'm not a real Christian. I think the theory is that if they keep trying to pretend I'm not real, that will mean my vote isn't real.
LOL, guess what--in 13 days you will find out my vote is very real, indeed.
I'm glad to see that the "you're not real" strategy is failing. There's absolutely no reason to cause any more divisions that currently exist, especially with the current state of affairs. Who care if you live in NoVA or RoVA, ultimately we all will bear the same pain and gain from Washington.
Nice, Mamama. Here you are accusing the OP of not being a real Christian. Thanks for proving the point.
LOL, not only that but she does it by saying:

Ummmm, ok. I guess I didn't realize Bible Study was supposed to make me feel compelled to not vote. Guess I missed that commandment about Thou Shalt Not Want To Vote!

Aha ya beat me to it!!
I'm totally with you Normie. I'm in Kansas, traditionally a Red State,so does that make me a "Real American" by Palin's standards? Or does my Obama/Biden sticker cancel me out?
I have often wrote of my disdain for the politics of absolutism and this idea of real America, real Americans, pro-American's, etc... is just the farthest extreme of this manner of thinking. In the latest examples of this from Palin, Bachmann, and others bothers me more because it isn't that they are using this as just a tactic to win office, but that they actually believe this.
In our age of American exceptionalism where an already existent sense of self centered entitlement and egotism abounds from top to bottom from years of hyper patriotism based on obedience and unquestioning loyalty to the action and wisdom of the body politic. Add to this a group of people already predisposed towards faith based ideologies where again, obedience to dogma is the most important precept, and you get people who actually believe they are working on behalf of a higher cause than they actually have authority over.
In a time when more a more grounded common sense approach rooted in pragmatism seems to be needed, we see most starkly the clinging desperation of a segment that appeared less extreme when they were among a larger peer group.
As I mentioned in another recent thread, my concerns are also with this absolutism permeating through more leftist circles as well. I was even recently somewhat chided for being centrist in view, which should serve as an example of what very well may be in store. Not only will the positions of the right be demonized, but even those of moderate positions, and this to me is no different than what has taken place in our recent past from the opposing position.
That last remnant of idealism in me tells me that real Americans get out and vote, engage in the political process, and embrace some civic duty and responsibility to each other(even at the risk of being called a socialist). It doesn't matter if you are left or right, red state, blue state, black, white, Christian, Muslim, Jew, rich or poor.

Once, during a sermon, our priest told us that God doesn't speak to us in a loud and angry voice. He speaks to us in a quiet voice that we can best hear when we are still and quiet. He said that we can discern the authenticity of the voice by how it makes us feel. If we are uplifted and warm and if the voice compels us to do something that makes us giddy and joyous, then we know that we are doing the will of God. If we what we hear makes us angry and bitter, if following that voice would lead to division and fear and spite, then we know that it is not the will of God.
So judging by the looks on these faces are they driven by hope and inspiration, or fear and hatred?
Oh the hypocrisy! You state that the Democrats invented name calling, but yet you attack Normie and Obama.
Wait, I am not attacking Norman, not in the least. The logic just does not follow for me, not in the least.
As for Obama, is he not a liar, does he not support abortion, was he not a member of a racist congregation, does he have a record??? No untruths here.
