2 million dollars, and yet people get on Palin for 100,000 of clothes. Talk about a bunch of hypocrites.
1 person wears the clothes. A few hundred thousand people will come to this event. But I will agree that in consideration of the economic crisis, they should keep things simple. No caviar or lobster, please, just inspiring words. And yes, we need to hear inspiring words whether it's a victory speech or a concession speech.
Some say Obama is jumping the gun but you have to prepare for these things in advance. We only have two weeks. But the location was selected because the park can hold hundreds of thousands of people. Provided that Obama wins the election, we could see Obama's biggest crowd yet. Could we see a crowd ranging between half a million to a million people? Alot of people would want to be there for that historical event. It would be the second most historic event after the inargaration ceromony.
Im sure McCain is setting up for his potential victory speech as well so no body is jumping the gun.
Jeez, imagine the Secret Service detail on that one!

You've obviously never been to a festival in Chicago! There will be no caviar or lobster, just overpriced (but tasty!) chicago style dogs and overpriced beverages, but it should still be a blast!
As someone stated earlier, the event will pay for itself and then some, no tax money needed.

That's odd. I heard it was going to be held at the Kroll Opera House.
The guy below thanks you for your support...

"John McCain's election night watch party might be missing John McCain. Instead of appearing before a throng of supporters at the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix on the evening of Nov. 4, the Republican presidential nominee plans to deliver postelection remarks to a small group of reporters and guests on the hotel's lawn.
Aides said Thursday that the arrangement was due to space limitations and that McCain might drop by the election watch party at some other point."
Thomas Patterson, a government professor at Harvard's Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy, called the arrangement "unusual" but said the campaign may simply be bowing to the reality that the candidate's remarks are geared toward the televised audience rather than those in the hall.
"Addressing your supporters election night is one of those traditions in politics, like where you choose to launch your campaign," Patterson said. "Why wouldn't you want the energy of the crowd? And if you're going to lose, you almost need it even more."
Could be 2 million wasted, plus the arrogance of planning something this big when we know any even Sunday.
And yes I would say the same no matter who was running for POTUS.
