?

I'm thinking, but ashamed to say
there are no answers coming up.

Does that have some esoteric meaning?

It's an old Spanish expression, at least 250-ish years old that Im aware of.

It means, Im not sitting here just staring blankly, Im busy thinking deep thoughts.

All families say it, or abbreviate it. It's so well known it has an entry at Wikipedia! And other countries have similar expressions - the wiki entry tells about that.

Thinking about the immortality of the crab - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you read some Spanish there's a small discussion of it here: http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=245616

Thanks for asking!

The mods should make a sticky not of this post but of the information - where to look online so you're sure you're squared away. Lots of valuable info at the SoS websites.

No, I meant in the standup comic sense. "Thanks, I'll be here all week! You've been a swell audience!"
