DispatchPolitics : Inspector general investigating access to Joe the Plumber's personal information Columbus Dispatch Politics (http://www.dispatchpolitics.com/live/content/local_news/stories/2008/10/27/copy/joe28.html?adsec=politics&sid=101 - broken link)

How nice.

Ohio's inspector general is investigating why a state agency director approved checking the state child-support computer system for information on "Joe the Plumber."

Helen Jones-Kelly, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, confirmed today that she OK'd the check on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher following the Oct. 15 presidential debate.

She said there were no political reasons for the check on the sudden presidential campaign fixture though the Support Enforcement Tracking System.

Amid questions from the media and others about "Joe the Plumber," Jones-Kelley said she approved a check to determine if he was current on any ordered child-support payments.

Such information was not and cannot be publicly shared, she said. It is unclear if Wurzelbacher is involved in a child-support case. Reports state that he lives alone with a 13-year-old son.

"Our practice is when someone is thrust quickly into the public spotlight, we often take a look" at them, Jones-Kelley said, citing a case where a lottery winner was found to owe past-due child support. "Our practice is to basically look at what is coming our way."

Ohio Inspector General Thomas P. Charles confirmed today that he is investigating the incident to determine if "Joe''s" records were legally accessed by Job and Family Services employees.

The use of a state computer system to search for information on Wurzelbacher is the fourth uncovered by The Dispatch.
So this is what happens when Obama gets asked a question and he blows the answer. The questioner is targeted by Obama-supporting state officials.

Or if it's a TV station they tell them they'll never appear on them again.

I must have missed the part in the article where "Obama-supporting state officials" were involved in the investigation. Or are you jumping to conclusions?

No. This is what happens when the Republican candidate cannot run his campaign on the merits and abuses Joe's name 22 times in a debate which he goes on to lose, and then thrusts the guy back in the spotlight on the campaign trail repeatedly - even though HE DIDN'T even meet the guy!! Joe was targeted by Senator McCain's inability to focus on issues important to Voters. Joe was targeted by Governor Palin's inability to form a cohesive message about important issues to voters. Joe Was Targeted by the Gimmicky ole' Party 2008.

Plumbers and plungers and shopping, oh my....

Oh, come on. McCain put Joe the plumber front and center in his campaign, not Obama. Once Joe was thrust into the media spotlight as another poster child for the RNC, some Obama supporters? only then attempted to find out who this guy is and if he is legit.

If Obama centered his campaign on a certain individual, that no one knew anything about, don't you think the Repubs. would do whatever they could to get info. on that person? They would, without question.

Cuse me. But JTP was put front and center by Obama, who when answering his question gave the nation an insight into his true philosophy.

JTP asked a question, and for that the Left and the media try to destroy him.

That's right in your opinion?

A guy asked Obama a question. Obama answered it. Did he then make this discourse the center of the last debate? McCain is the one who held him up for scrutiny and now the Repubs. act indignant when the guy is investigated.

Joe the plumber would have never been heard from again had McCain the vulture not decended upon him to use him as a prop for his flailing campaign.

Where did this come out? Please post a link.

McCain is the one who brought JTP to the public's attention. He mentioned him by his full name during the 3rd debate. He had to have known that it would cause him to be subject to intense scrutiny. But apparently he decided that exploiting the guy for his own political gain was okay.
